What a coastal sideboard is

The relaxed, pale-wood buffet that sells in beach, Hamptons and resort ranges.

Coastal is a finish-and-feel style, not a separate construction. It takes a solid-wood sideboard and lightens it — whitewashed or driftwood-grey timber, soft sand-and-white two-tones, woven cane or rattan door panels, and easy, open proportions that read airy rather than heavy. For importers and retailers it is one of the most durable looks in the market: it anchors a coastal collection, drops neatly into a resort or holiday-let fit-out, and pairs with the rattan accents and light décor that fill out a container.

Woods that take the look

Solid mango and acacia take whitewash, lime-wash and painted sand-tones evenly and cleanly, so the pale coastal finish stays crisp. Reclaimed / old wood gives a genuinely weathered, salt-aged surface. Cane and rattan webbing fronts add the woven, breezy texture the style is known for.

Finishes we build

Whitewash and lime-wash, driftwood and weathered grey, matte white and soft sand paint, natural-oiled pale wood, and two-tone fronts — all CARB / TSCA formaldehyde-compliant. We hand-distress and rub back edges where a buyer wants the aged-by-the-sea character rather than a flat paint.

Where buyers place them

Dining-room buffets and living-room credenzas in coastal homes, media consoles under a TV, entryway and hallway cabinets, and reception or bar-back units in beach resorts, holiday lets and seaside cafés. One platform, re-proportioned for each use.

Why source coastal sideboards from us

Craft, cane and compliance in one container.

Most Jodhpur workshops can build a pale sideboard; far fewer can document the timber, hold the finish consistent across a repeat container, and consolidate coastal pieces with the rest of your range under one compliant invoice. We combine genuine handcraft — kiln-dried solid wood, hand-woven cane, hand-rubbed finishes — with FSC and Vriksh timber legality, EUDR-ready due diligence, and QC on every unit. You can run our catalogue designs (ODM) or have us build to your drawings, finish and brand (OEM, private label), with retail-ready, Amazon-FBA-ready or branded packaging.

Compliance & freight

Documented timber, dense containers.

A coastal sideboard is still a solid-wood piece, so timber legality decides whether your container clears. We ship with FSC chain-of-custody, Vriksh verification and CITES-compliant sheesham handling, EUDR-ready geolocation and deforestation-free due diligence, plus Lacey Act, UK Timber Regulation, CARB/TSCA and ISPM-15 cover. Knockdown construction and removable legs maximise how many pieces fit a 20ft load — and reduce breakage on light, pale finishes that show transit scuffs.

Care & finish note

Solid wood lives and breathes with humidity, so we kiln-dry timber to export moisture levels and seal every coastal sideboard. Advise your retail and hospitality clients to keep pieces out of direct sun and salt spray, dust the cane with a soft dry brush, wipe wood with a lightly damp cloth, and re-oil natural surfaces periodically. Whitewashed and painted finishes are wiped, not oiled. Full care-and-assembly guidance ships with each order, and matching care labelling can be printed for retail-ready packaging.

Common questions

Coastal sideboard sourcing, answered.

What makes a sideboard "coastal" and which woods suit the look?

A coastal sideboard carries the light, airy, beach-house aesthetic — pale whitewashed or driftwood-grey wood, soft two-tone fronts, woven cane or rattan doors, and relaxed Hamptons or nautical proportions. We build it on a solid-wood heart in mango and acacia (which take whitewash and limed finishes beautifully) and in reclaimed wood for a weathered, salt-aged look, often paired with natural cane-webbing fronts.

What finishes do you offer on coastal sideboards?

Whitewash and lime-wash, driftwood and weathered grey, soft matte white and sand-tone paint, natural-oiled pale wood, and two-tone fronts — all in CARB / TSCA formaldehyde-compliant finishes. Hardware runs from rope and rattan pulls to brushed and antiqued metal. We also distress and hand-rub surfaces for an authentic aged-by-the-sea feel.

What are standard coastal sideboard sizes and can you build to our drawings?

Common widths run 120, 140, 160 and 180 cm, around 40–45 cm deep and 75–85 cm high, with 2–4 doors or a door-and-drawer mix and optional cane-webbing panels. These are starting points — as an OEM manufacturer we re-size, re-finish and re-configure every piece to your drawings, hardware and private-label spec.

Can coastal sideboards ship flat-pack or knockdown?

Yes. We offer knockdown / flat-pack (RTA) coastal sideboards with removable legs and bolt-on tops to cut freight cost and transit breakage — ideal for large importers and online sellers — as well as fully assembled pieces for resort and hospitality fit-outs.

What is the minimum order and lead time?

A trial or sample order can ship LCL (part-container). For best wholesale pricing thereafter, one 20ft full container load is our standard minimum, and we consolidate coastal sideboards with other furniture and décor into one container. Typical lead time is 30–45 days from approved sample, with QC on every piece.

Are your coastal sideboards compliant for import into the US and EU?

Yes. We document FSC chain-of-custody, Vriksh timber-legality and CITES-compliant sheesham handling, are EUDR-ready with geolocation and deforestation-free due diligence, and support US Lacey Act declarations, UK Timber Regulation, CARB/TSCA finishes and ISPM-15 export packing.
