Export & logistics · For importers & wholesalers

Furniture MOQ, explained — from a trial sample to a full container.

Minimum order quantity is where most import conversations stall. Here is exactly how it works with a Jodhpur manufacturer-exporter: sample first, scale to one 20ft container, mix categories to fill it, and ship flat-pack to cut your landed cost.

The short answer

Start with a sample. Scale to one container. Mix categories to fill it.

We are an export-only, B2B manufacturer-exporter — we do not sell single retail pieces. Our MOQ is designed so a new buyer can de-risk the relationship with a sample, then move to the volume where ocean freight actually pays: a full container. No overseas warehouse, no middle layer — you buy direct from the factory.

Why the minimum exists

MOQ is about freight economics, not red tape.

Freight is priced per container

Ocean shipping, port handling and export documentation are largely fixed per container. A full 20ft load spreads those costs across the maximum number of units, which is why FCL gives you the lowest landed cost per piece. Below a container, you still pay a large share of the fixed cost on fewer units.

Sealed loads mean less damage

An FCL is packed and sealed at our factory and opened by you. It is not broken down, consolidated or re-handled mid-journey the way LCL cargo is. For solid-wood furniture, fewer touches means fewer dents, scuffs and claims when the container arrives.

Production runs favour volume

Carving, CNC setup, finishing and QC are most efficient in runs. A container-sized order lets us hold consistent quality and competitive, cost-advantaged pricing across every identical piece — which is harder to guarantee on a handful of units.

Fill the container your way

Mixed-category loads let smaller buyers reach a full container.

You do not need a container of one product to hit the MOQ. We consolidate furniture, wood-and-iron pieces, marble tops, planters and décor into a single compliant load — so you can test several ranges at once, reach FCL economics sooner, and clear customs on one invoice with one set of export documents.

Frequently asked

Furniture MOQ questions, answered.

What is the minimum order quantity (MOQ) for furniture?

Our MOQ is flexible by stage. A trial or sample order can ship LCL (less-than-container-load, part of a shared container). Once you are ready to order for resale, one 20ft full container load (FCL) is our standard minimum for best wholesale pricing. We consolidate furniture, décor and metalware into that one container, so you rarely need a separate order per category.

Can I order a single sample before committing to a container?

Yes. We produce samples and prototypes so you approve the wood, finish, hardware and build quality before you commit to volume. Samples ship LCL or by courier. This is the recommended first step for a new buyer — approve the piece in your hands, then scale to an FCL.

Why is one 20ft container the minimum for best pricing?

Ocean freight is costed per container, not per piece, so a full container load spreads fixed shipping, handling and documentation costs across the most units. An FCL also means your goods are sealed at our end and not handled or reloaded in transit, which lowers breakage. Below a container, LCL is possible but the per-unit landed cost rises.

How many pieces fit in a 20ft and a 40ft container?

It depends entirely on the product mix and whether items are assembled or knockdown. Flat-pack (knockdown / RTA) furniture packs far denser — often two to three times the units of assembled equivalents — because you ship product, not air. We optimise the load plan and share an estimated piece count with your quote once the mix is set.

Can I mix different products in one container to reach the MOQ?

Yes. Mixed-category containers are a core part of how we work — you can combine dining tables, bedroom pieces, wood-and-iron furniture, marble tops, planters and décor in a single compliant load. This lets smaller buyers reach a full container, test several ranges at once and consolidate to one invoice and one set of export documents.

What is the lead time once my order is confirmed?

Typical production lead time is 30–45 days from confirmed order and approved sample, followed by QC, ISPM-15 export packing and loading at Mundra or Nhava Sheva. Urgent orders can be expedited at a premium. Sampling and design approval happen before this window begins.
