EUDR-compliant furniture, documented before your container leaves India.
The EU Deforestation Regulation changed how timber furniture enters Europe. We built our sourcing and paperwork around it — geolocated, deforestation-free, Vriksh-verified and FSC chain-of-custody — so your due-diligence file is ready and your container clears while others' sit at the port.
EUDR in plain terms — and why it lands on your desk, not ours.
The EU Deforestation Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2023/1115) sets three tests for wood products placed on the EU market: the goods must be deforestation-free, produced legally in the country of origin, and covered by a due-diligence statement that traces the wood back to the land it grew on. Wooden furniture falls squarely inside its scope.
The legal duty sits with the operator — the business that first places the product on the EU market, which for imported furniture is almost always the importer. You file the due-diligence statement; you carry the liability if the file is thin. That is exactly why your choice of manufacturer matters: a non-compliant supplier leaves you to assemble origin data you do not hold, after the goods are already on the water.
We can't file your statement for you — no honest exporter can. What we do is remove the hard part: we hand over complete, verifiable origin, geolocation, species and legality evidence as part of the order, so your diligence file is built before the container ships.
Every EUDR data point, matched to how we supply it.
This is the table your compliance team wants. Each EUDR obligation, and the specific evidence we provide against it for your due-diligence statement.
| EUDR requirement | Our standard |
|---|---|
| Deforestation-free sourcing | Timber from legal, non-deforested sources; reclaimed/old-wood lines for the lowest-impact option |
| Geolocation of harvest plots | Geolocation and origin data provided for the timber in your order, mapped to species |
| Species identification | Botanical species named — e.g. sheesham (Dalbergia sissoo), mango, acacia, teak |
| Country of harvest & legality | Harvested in India; legality evidenced by Vriksh (EPCH timber-legality verification) |
| Chain-of-custody | FSC chain-of-custody documentation linking source to finished goods |
| Protected-species handling | CITES-compliant handling of Dalbergia sissoo (sheesham) |
| Due-diligence documentation | Origin, geolocation, species and legality file assembled per shipment, before loading |
| Adjacent-market readiness | US Lacey Act declaration support · UK Timber Regulation (UKTR) due diligence |
Certificate numbers are shared directly with serious buyers on request and are never published, to prevent misuse. We name our certifications openly; we protect the numbers.
A compliant container is a container that clears.
Your diligence file is pre-built
Geolocation, species, country of harvest and chain-of-custody arrive with your order, not weeks later. Your statement is ready to file when the goods are ready to ship.
No surprises at the port
Furniture backed by a complete EUDR file moves through EU entry as routine. Incomplete origin data is where shipments stall, get held for checks, and burn demurrage.
One source, one compliant invoice
Consolidate furniture, metalware and décor into a single container with one coherent diligence package — instead of stitching together paperwork from several suppliers of mixed quality.
Reclaimed and FSC lines — the lowest-risk option
Where your market or your own ESG commitments demand the strongest story, we steer you to reclaimed/old-wood and FSC chain-of-custody ranges. Reclaimed timber is deforestation-free by definition; FSC adds sustainable-sourcing evidence on virgin wood. Both are genuine Jodhpur solid-wood furniture — the credible, compliant alternative for buyers diversifying their sourcing.
EUDR is the headline. The same traceability covers the rest.
The origin and legality data that satisfies EUDR is the same data that supports a US Lacey Act declaration and UK Timber Regulation due diligence. Add CARB / TSCA Title VI formaldehyde-compliant finishes for North America and ISPM-15 heat-treated export packaging, and a single well-governed supply chain clears your furniture into every major timber market.
Backed by ISO quality management, SGS third-party inspection, and SEDEX / SMETA social audit — so the compliance story holds from the forest plot to the finished, inspected, packed container.
| Market | What we cover |
|---|---|
| European Union | EUDR-ready · geolocation · Vriksh · FSC |
| United Kingdom | UK Timber Regulation (UKTR) due diligence |
| United States | Lacey Act support · CARB / TSCA Title VI finishes |
| Quality & ethics | ISO · SGS inspection · SEDEX / SMETA |
| Export packing | ISPM-15 heat-treated · flat-pack options |
EUDR-compliant furniture — frequently asked.
What is the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) and does it apply to furniture?
The EU Deforestation Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2023/1115) requires that wood and wood products placed on the EU market be deforestation-free, produced legally in the country of origin, and backed by a due-diligence statement. It applies to wooden furniture and many timber products, so an importer bringing our furniture into the EU is an operator with due-diligence obligations. We are built to supply the data and documents that obligation depends on.
What does "EUDR-ready" mean at Jodhpur Handicraft?
It means the information an EU importer needs for their due-diligence statement is prepared alongside the order, not scrambled together afterwards. We provide the geolocation of the harvest source, species identification, country of harvest, and the legality and chain-of-custody evidence — Vriksh timber-legality verification and FSC chain-of-custody — so your diligence file is complete before the goods ship.
Who is legally responsible for EUDR compliance — the exporter or the importer?
Under EUDR the operator who first places the product on the EU market — typically the importer — files the due-diligence statement and carries the legal responsibility. As your manufacturer-exporter we cannot file it for you, but we remove the hard part: we hand over verifiable origin, geolocation, species and legality documentation so you can submit your statement with confidence.
Do you provide geolocation data for the timber used in our furniture?
Yes. EUDR requires geolocation of the plots where the wood was harvested. We maintain traceability from our vetted supply base and provide the geolocation and origin data for the timber in your order, mapped to the relevant species such as sheesham (Dalbergia sissoo), mango or acacia.
How does EUDR relate to FSC, Vriksh and the Lacey Act?
They reinforce each other. FSC chain-of-custody evidences sustainable sourcing, Vriksh (EPCH's Indian Timber Legality Assessment and Verification) evidences legal harvest in India, and both feed the "legally produced" and "deforestation-free" tests EUDR applies. For US-bound orders the same traceability supports a US Lacey Act declaration, and for the UK it supports UK Timber Regulation due diligence.
Can you supply EUDR-ready documentation on a trial order before we commit to containers?
Yes. A trial or sample order can ship LCL, and we supply the same due-diligence documentation on it, so your compliance team can review a real diligence file before you scale to full container loads.
Put our EUDR readiness to the test on your next order.
Tell us the pieces, species and market. We'll quote FOB or CIF from Mundra / Nhava Sheva and show you the due-diligence documentation that ships with the goods — on a trial order first, if you prefer.
