Why cane sells

The natural-texture piece every coastal, boho and resort range needs.

Cane reads as light, breathable and handmade — the look buyers want for coastal, Scandinavian and boho interiors, and the texture that lifts a container of plain upholstered seating. A cane ottoman doubles as a footrest, an occasional seat and a soft-surface side table, so it earns its place on the retail floor and in the hotel room alike. We build it the right way: the weave is the surface, but the structure underneath is always solid wood — never a plywood or particle-board carcass.

What we build

Cane the material, wood the backbone.

Natural cane and rattan are fast-renewing, lightweight and genuinely hand-woven in our Jodhpur and allied clusters. On an ottoman, the cane does the aesthetic work while a kiln-dried hardwood frame carries the load — the combination that keeps the piece sellable across both dry and humid markets.

Open & tight weaves

Classic octagonal open cane for an airy look, or a tight herringbone weave for firmer, higher-use seating. Weave pattern and density are specified to your design.

Cane panels or full body

Woven panels set into the sides of a cube or bench, a cane drum body, or a cane top over a wooden footstool — with glass or wood inserts where you need a usable surface.

Upholstered & storage tops

Add a foam-and-fabric cushion top in your textile, or a lift-off lid for light storage — the cane body with the function buyers ask for.

Care & longevity

Keep the weave taut and the wood true.

Cane is forgiving but it rewards a little attention. Dust the weave with a soft dry brush or vacuum on low; wipe the wood frame with a barely damp cloth and dry it. In very dry air a light spritz of water on the underside of the weave restores tension if it slackens. Keep the piece out of prolonged direct sun to protect colour, and condition any leather or upholstered top with a neutral product. Our kiln-dried frames and low-VOC, CARB / TSCA-compliant finishes hold up across climates, and printed care and material cards ship with every order so your retail and hospitality customers get the same guidance you do.

Cane ottoman sourcing FAQs

What is a cane ottoman made of?

A cane ottoman is built on a kiln-dried solid-wood frame — sheesham, mango or acacia — with hand-woven natural cane set into the sides, top or full body. The weave can be open or tight, and tops are often upholstered in your fabric or finished in solid wood so the piece works as a footstool, seat or light storage lid.

Is cane strong enough for commercial and hospitality use?

Yes, when it is woven over a solid-wood frame as ours is. The wood carries the structural load and the cane forms the surface and panels, so the piece suits resort rooms, boutique hotels, cafés and lounges. We can tighten the weave, add a glass or wood insert under the top, and specify foam density for contract seating.

Do you ship cane ottomans flat-pack to save freight?

Yes. Many cane ottoman styles ship knockdown or flat-pack — legs and frame packed separately from the woven body or lid — which lowers freight cost and breakage for importers and online sellers. Assembled pieces are also available, packed to ISPM-15 heat-treated export standards.

Can you make cane ottomans to our own design or private label?

Yes. We are both ODM, with our own ready catalogue, and OEM — we build to your drawings, dimensions, weave pattern, fabrics and finishes, with custom CNC-carved frames and private-label, retail-ready or Amazon-FBA-ready packaging. Send a reference or tech pack and we prototype before production.

How do you care for a cane ottoman?

Dust the weave with a soft dry brush or cloth and wipe the wood frame clean. Cane likes a little humidity — an occasional light spritz of water on the underside keeps the weave taut in dry climates. Keep it out of prolonged direct sun to protect colour, and treat any upholstered top with a neutral conditioner. Care cards ship with every order.

Are your cane ottomans compliant for import into the US and EU?

Yes. We document FSC chain-of-custody and Vriksh timber-legality on the wood frame, are EUDR-ready with geolocation and deforestation-free due diligence, and support US Lacey Act declarations, UK Timber Regulation, and CARB / TSCA formaldehyde-compliant finishes.
