Rosewood headboards — solid Dalbergia panels with a deep, heirloom grain.
Rosewood is the hardwood buyers reach for when a headboard has to feel permanent. We manufacture solid rosewood panel, slatted, arched and carved headboards in Jodhpur — dense, dark-grained and oil-rich — legally sourced and documented: CITES-compliant, Vriksh-verified, FSC chain-of-custody and EUDR-ready, finished to your spec and shipped from a single trial order up to repeat container volumes.
The timber that turns a bed into an heirloom.
A headboard is the most looked-at and most leaned-on piece in the room, so it has to carry visual weight and take years of contact. Rosewood does both at the top of its class. It is one of the hardest, densest furniture timbers we work — Indian rosewood (Dalbergia latifolia) rates around 2,400 lbf on the Janka scale and sheesham (Dalbergia sissoo) around 1,660 lbf, both well clear of oak and far above pine — so a panel resists the dents, scuffs and surface wear that age a softer board where heads and hands meet it nightly. Its natural oils add real resistance to wear and insects. Visually, rosewood is unmatched for depth: the heartwood runs from golden brown to deep chocolate and purple, streaked with near-black lines and often rippling figure, so the headboard reads as a genuine statement timber rather than a flat tone. For importers and hospitality buyers, that is the premium end of the bedroom range — an heirloom-grade hardwood with the documentation to ship it anywhere.

Because rosewood grain and colour vary by log and cut, we recommend approving a physical finish panel so you know the range you will receive. Request a rosewood sample for grain and stain references, or read the full species profile in the rosewood material guide.
Every market width, mounted the way your channel needs.
We manufacture to US, UK and EU mattress widths, with the panel usually run a little wider than the mattress for overhang and panel height made to order. The dimensions below are standard starting points.
| Size | Mattress width (in) | Mattress width (cm) | Typical panel height |
|---|---|---|---|
| Twin / Single | 38–39 | 90 | 100–120 cm |
| Full / Double | 54 | 140 | 110–130 cm |
| Queen | 60 | 160 | 120–140 cm |
| King / Super-king | 76–72 | 180–200 | 120–150 cm |
Mounting options
Strut-mounted on height-adjustable steel legs that bolt to a standard bed frame; wall-hung on a concealed French-cleat batten to float above the mattress; or freestanding on its own feet for hotels and rentals with no wall fixing. Fixing centres and strut height made to your spec, including rosewood panels set in a powder-coated wrought-iron frame for a wood-and-metal look.
Styles
Flat and raised-panel, vertical and horizontal slatted, arched and curved-top, plank and live-edge, and hand-carved Saharanpur-style detailing that rosewood holds crisply. Your design (OEM) or ours (ODM), with custom CNC profiling and bespoke dimensions available.
Finishes & packing
Natural oil and wax to deepen the grain, hand-rubbed sheen, or matt and satin lacquer — all in CARB / TSCA Title VI formaldehyde-compliant formulations, with finish panels kept on file for repeat-order consistency. Assembled or knockdown (flat-pack / RTA) with bolt-through fittings; carton, retail-ready, Amazon-FBA-ready or branded packaging; ISPM-15 heat-treated export packing, FOB or CIF from Mundra / Nhava Sheva.
A CITES-listed timber, documented for every market.
Rosewood is a Dalbergia species listed on CITES Appendix II, so it cannot be shipped on trust — it needs a documented legal chain, and that is exactly where most rivals fall short. Every rosewood headboard we export is handled on a CITES-compliant basis, with Vriksh timber-legality verification, FSC chain-of-custody on request, and EUDR-ready geolocation and deforestation-free due diligence. We provide US Lacey Act declaration support, UK Timber Regulation coverage and CARB / TSCA Title VI formaldehyde-compliant finishes, with social and quality assurance under SEDEX / SMETA, ISO and SGS inspection, and ISPM-15 heat-treated export packing. Certificate references go directly to serious buyers — never published. Your container clears customs and passes retail audit without friction.

Built to outlast the bed it sits on.
Rosewood's density and natural oils are its headline advantage: it resists the dents, scuffs and oils that age a softer headboard exactly where heads and hands meet it, which is what a premium bedroom or contract suite needs. We kiln-dry every board to a stable moisture content before joinery and build panels with cross-battening or framed construction so a wide span stays flat rather than cupping. In service, rosewood asks little: wipe with a soft, dry or barely damp cloth, buff dry, and avoid standing water and harsh solvents. An occasional light re-oil or wax keeps oiled finishes rich and deepens the grain; lacquered panels need only routine cleaning. Keep the headboard out of prolonged direct sun to preserve its colour. Full care and finish guidance ships with every order so your retail and hospitality customers get consistent advice.
Rosewood headboard sourcing, answered.
What is a rosewood headboard made from?
Rosewood headboards are built from the heartwood of the Dalbergia genus. In the Indian export trade, rosewood most often means Dalbergia sissoo — known locally as sheesham and sold worldwide as Indian rosewood — and the denser, darker Dalbergia latifolia (East Indian rosewood). The result is a solid-hardwood panel with golden-brown to deep-chocolate and purple heartwood, dramatic near-black streaking and natural oils that keep it hard-wearing.
Is rosewood CITES-controlled, and can you export rosewood headboards legally?
Yes. Dalbergia species are listed on CITES Appendix II, so rosewood must be sourced and shipped with proper legality paperwork. We handle Dalbergia sissoo (sheesham) on a CITES-compliant basis, backed by Vriksh timber-legality verification, FSC chain-of-custody and EUDR-ready geolocation and deforestation-free due diligence, with US Lacey Act and UK Timber Regulation support — so a rosewood headboard clears customs rather than stalls at the port.
How do rosewood headboards mount to a bed?
We build three mountings. Strut-mounted headboards bolt to a standard bed frame on height-adjustable steel legs; wall-hung panels hang on a concealed French-cleat batten to float above the mattress; and freestanding headboards stand on their own feet for hotels and rentals where no wall fixing is wanted. Fixing centres, strut height and panel height are all made to your specification.
What sizes do you export rosewood headboards in?
We manufacture to US, UK and EU mattress widths — twin/single, full/double, queen, king and super-king — with the panel typically run a little wider than the mattress for overhang, and panel height made to order. Standard widths and a height range are in the specification table above, and any custom width or height is produced to your drawing.
Is rosewood durable enough for hotel and contract bedrooms?
Yes — rosewood is one of the hardest and densest furniture timbers. Indian rosewood (Dalbergia latifolia) rates around 2,400 lbf on the Janka scale and sheesham (Dalbergia sissoo) around 1,660 lbf, both well above oak and far above pine. Its natural oils give good resistance to wear and insects, so a rosewood headboard shrugs off the knocks of a high-turnover guest room and holds its finish for years.
What is your minimum order for rosewood headboards?
A trial or sample headboard can ship LCL (part-container). For best wholesale pricing thereafter, one 20ft full container load is our standard minimum, and we consolidate rosewood headboards with beds, nightstands, chests and other categories into one mixed container. Typical lead time is 30–45 days, quoted FOB or CIF from Mundra or Nhava Sheva.
Approve the grain, then ship from one container up.
Sign off the grain range and finish on a physical sample, then scale from a trial order to repeat container volumes on a 30–45 day lead time — CITES-documented and QC-governed for your market. Compare woods, styles and mountings on the headboards hub, read the full species profile in the rosewood material guide, or pair the panel with a matching frame on the rosewood beds page.
