What it is
A marble top writing desk pairs a natural-stone work surface with a solid-wood or metal base. The stone top is the piece's signature: cool to the touch, subtly veined, and far more resistant to scuffs, ring-marks and pen pressure than a painted or veneered surface. That durability is exactly why it earns its place on a desk that is written on, typed on and leaned over every day — in a study, a reception, or an executive office.
Because the two halves of the desk come from different crafts, we consolidate them in one compliant container: solid-wood and iron bases from our core Jodhpur cluster, and hand-finished marble and stone tops from the Jaipur and Rajasthan stone-carving tradition. One supplier, one QC regime, one set of export papers — anchored in genuine Jodhpur solid-wood manufacturing rather than bought-in panel board.
Materials & properties
White, grey-veined, green, black and beige marbles, with granite and other stone on request. Natural slabs, so veining is unique per piece — we match to a swatch or your sample and record the selection for repeats. Edges honed, bevelled or bull-nosed; tops supplied pre-sealed for a working surface.
Sheesham (Indian rosewood / Dalbergia sissoo) for dense, dark grain; mango and acacia for warm, lighter tones; reclaimed/old wood for character. Kiln-controlled and finished in CARB / TSCA Title VI-compliant stains, oils or lacquers.
Powder-coated steel and wrought iron for a slim, modern or industrial line — hairpin, A-frame, slab-leg and bespoke geometries. Mix with a wood stretcher, drawer box or shelf for a two-material look.

Care & handling
Marble is a natural, porous stone. We supply desk tops pre-sealed; buyers should re-seal periodically in service and wipe spills promptly, since acidic liquids such as coffee, wine or citrus can etch an unsealed surface. Clean with a soft cloth and a pH-neutral cleaner — avoid vinegar, citrus and abrasive pads. The solid-wood base takes a standard furniture wax or oil refresh; the powder-coated iron base needs only a dry wipe. Because every slab is natural, minor variation in veining and tone is a feature of the material, not a defect — we document this for your listings so end customers know what to expect.
