What a reclaimed wood trunk really is

Old timber, given a second life as a storage statement piece.

A reclaimed trunk is built from timber that has already lived once — boards salvaged from old buildings, railway sleepers, boat timber and dismantled furniture. We de-nail, re-mill and kiln-dry that wood to export moisture levels, then rebuild it into a solid, iron-bound carcass. What survives the process is what buyers pay for: the saw marks, nail holes, grain movement and settled patina that make every single trunk unique. It reads as travelled and collected because it genuinely is — and because the wood is already in circulation, the product is deforestation-free before any paperwork is signed.

Why reclaimed wood sells

The properties that make the price make sense.

Every piece is unique

No two boards weather alike. Each trunk carries its own grain, tone and marks — the authenticity cue that lets retailers and hotels charge a premium over mass-produced storage.

Old-growth stability

Salvaged hardwood has dried and settled over decades, so it is dense and dimensionally stable. Re-milled and re-kilned, it resists the warping and movement that trouble fresh timber.

Sustainable by nature

Reusing timber already in circulation means no new felling — a clean, honest sustainability story that maps straight onto EUDR and the questions your own buyers now ask.

Rustic-industrial look

Weathered wood pairs naturally with wrought-iron straps, corner brackets and old-style lock plates — the farmhouse, industrial and colonial styles that move fastest in the US and EU.

A storage and surface piece

Closed storage plus a coffee-table or end-of-bed surface in one box — two jobs per SKU, which is exactly what makes a trunk a container-filling bestseller.

Loads a container well

Rectangular and stackable, trunks pack densely — and nesting sets or knockdown builds push freight cost per piece lower still.

Your reclaimed trunk, your brand.

We build from our own catalogue (ODM) and to your drawings (OEM) — custom sizes, linings, hinges, locks and branded hardware, finished with retail-ready or FBA-ready packaging. Custom CNC and hand-finishing let us match a reference piece or develop a signature reclaimed line for your range. Care & durability

Built to arrive, and to last.

Reclaimed trunks are kiln-dried to export moisture levels and finished to resist everyday handling. Advise your customers to keep trunks out of direct heat and damp, wipe with a dry or lightly oiled cloth, and refresh natural-oil finishes occasionally. Iron and brass fittings need only a dry wipe. For shipment, every trunk is ISPM-15 heat-treated-packed and corner-protected, with flat-pack options to cut breakage further.

The compliance edge

Deforestation-free trunks that clear customs cleanly.

Reclaimed wood is one of the strongest answers to today's import rules — it reuses timber already in circulation instead of new felling. We still document the chain in full, so your container moves while others wait at the port.

Reclaimed trunk FAQs

What buyers ask before they order.

What exactly is a reclaimed wood trunk?

It is a storage trunk built from old, recovered timber — planks salvaged from decommissioned buildings, railway sleepers, boat timber and old furniture — rather than freshly felled wood. Each piece keeps its naturally weathered grain, nail marks, saw scars and old patina, so every trunk is one of a kind. We rebuild the salvaged boards into a solid, structurally sound carcass with iron strapping and sound joinery, then finish it to export standard.

Is reclaimed wood strong enough for a trunk that gets used daily?

Yes. Reclaimed hardwood is typically old-growth timber that has already dried and stabilised over decades, so it is dense and dimensionally stable. We re-mill, de-nail, kiln-dry to export moisture levels and reinforce every trunk with corner brackets and iron bands. The result is a storage and seating piece built for commercial, high-turnover use in homes and hotels alike.

Why is a reclaimed wood trunk a good choice for import compliance?

Because it is deforestation-free by nature — it reuses timber already in circulation rather than sourcing new felling. That maps directly onto the EU Deforestation Regulation and sustainability expectations buyers now carry. We still document the full chain with FSC chain-of-custody where applicable, Vriksh timber-legality, EUDR geolocation due diligence, US Lacey Act declaration support and UK Timber Regulation.

Can you match a specific look across a whole order of reclaimed trunks?

Yes, within the honest limits of salvaged wood. We can hold a consistent finish, size, tone band and hardware style across a run, and we grade boards so colour and texture stay within an agreed range. The natural variation between individual pieces is part of the product's appeal — we set expectations with an approved sample before production, so your retail shelf stays coherent.

What sizes and styles of reclaimed trunk do you export?

Coffee-table trunks with a flat lid, end-of-bed blanket boxes, steamer and campaign trunks, hall and entryway trunks, and graduated nesting sets of two or three. Typical sizes run from about 60 cm hall trunks up to 120 cm coffee trunks, all made to order. Iron-bound, distressed, natural-oil and lightly painted finishes are the most requested.

What is the minimum order and lead time for reclaimed wood trunks?

A trial or sample order can ship LCL (part-container) so you approve the build first. For best wholesale pricing thereafter, one 20ft full container load is our standard minimum, and trunks consolidate well with other furniture and décor into a mixed container. Typical lead time is 30–45 days from sample approval, with urgent orders at a premium.
