Scandinavian sideboard in light mango wood with tapered legs and slatted doors

What a Scandinavian sideboard is — and how we build it

A Scandinavian sideboard is a low, long storage cabinet defined by restraint: a clean rectangular carcass raised on slim tapered legs, flat or lightly grooved fronts, recessed or notch-pull handles, and a pale, natural wood tone that keeps rooms feeling open and bright. The style prizes honest materials and quiet function over ornament — exactly the discipline solid-wood joinery rewards.

We manufacture these pieces in genuine solid wood, not veneered panel board. Every sideboard carries at least one solid-wood component, and the Scandinavian range is built primarily in solid mango, sheesham (Indian rosewood), and acacia, finished to read as Nordic oak. Legs are turned and angled for the signature splay; doors run on soft-close hardware; interiors are fitted with adjustable shelves and, where specified, drawers on smooth runners.

Woods, grain, and why solid wood suits this style

The Scandinavian look lives on visible grain and a light, even tone — so the wood choice matters more here than in any heavily carved style. Each option below is export-grade and kiln-dried to a stable moisture content before machining.

WoodGrain & toneBest for
Solid mangoOpen, flowing grain; warm honey-to-blond tone under light finishThe truest Nordic look at a cost-advantaged price; high-volume retail programs
Sheesham (Indian rosewood)Dense, straight-to-wavy grain; rich figure that lightens beautifully under matte oilPremium, long-life pieces; hospitality and contract use
AcaciaBold, characterful grain with natural colour movement; very hard-wearingStatement fronts; buyers who want visible natural variation

Finishes, sizes, and configurations

Finish is where the Scandinavian character is set. We work in low-sheen, formaldehyde-compliant coatings that protect the surface without plasticising the grain.

Finishes

Natural matte, light oak-tone, whitewashed / limed, and soft-oiled. Hand-sanded edges and a touch-smooth top. All coatings are CARB / TSCA Title VI formaldehyde-compliant.

Sizes

Two-door compact through four-door long-run buffets, typically 90–180 cm wide and 75–85 cm tall. Custom dimensions to your spec via OEM — carcass depth and leg height adjustable.

Configurations

Doors, drawers, open niches, slatted fronts, and mixed layouts. Wrought-iron or brass hardware options. Assembled or knockdown / flat-pack for container density.

Specification at a glance

Where these sideboards work

The low profile and warm, neutral tone make the Scandinavian sideboard one of the most resellable pieces in a furniture program — it suits living rooms, dining spaces, entryways, and hospitality interiors without redesign.

Importers & online sellers

Flat-pack construction and retail-ready or Amazon-FBA-ready packaging make these ideal for Wayfair, Amazon, and chain-retail assortments where freight and returns both count.

Designers & hospitality

Interior designers, hotels, cafés, and resorts use them as credenzas, reception storage, and buffet units — custom sizes and finishes matched to a scheme via OEM.

Care that keeps the Nordic look

Solid wood ages well when treated simply. Dust with a dry or lightly damp cloth and wipe dry; avoid silicone sprays and harsh solvents that dull a matte finish. Keep pieces out of direct, prolonged sun and away from radiators or vents to limit movement, and use coasters and pads under anything wet or hot. A light re-oil every year or two restores soft-oiled tops. We supply care guidance with every shipment so your downstream customers keep the finish looking new.

Why source your Scandinavian sideboards from us

Scandinavian sideboard — buyer questions

What wood are your Scandinavian sideboards made from?

We build them in solid sheesham (Indian rosewood), mango, and acacia, with light oak-tone and natural matte finishes that read as Nordic. Every piece has at least one solid-wood component — we do not supply plywood or panel furniture.

Do you ship Scandinavian sideboards knockdown or flat-pack?

Yes. Tapered legs, cabinet carcasses, and doors ship as knockdown / flat-pack (RTA) to cut freight cost and breakage, which maximizes container density. Assembled construction is also available where you prefer it.

What is the minimum order for Scandinavian sideboards?

A trial or sample order can ship LCL. For best competitive pricing thereafter, we ask for one 20ft FCL minimum, and we support mixed-category containers so you can combine sideboards with other furniture and décor.

Are the finishes safe for the US and EU markets?

Yes. We use CARB / TSCA Title VI formaldehyde-compliant finishes and supply FSC chain-of-custody and Vriksh documentation, with EUDR due-diligence and geolocation data and US Lacey Act declaration support. Export packaging is ISPM-15 compliant.

Can you make our own Scandinavian sideboard design?

Yes. We work ODM from our ready designs and OEM to your drawings or samples, including private-label and custom CNC carving, sizing, and retail-ready or Amazon-FBA-ready packaging.
