What a coastal side table is

Light, airy and natural — the accent piece that sells a relaxed room.

Coastal style is defined by pale, sun-washed finishes and honest natural materials: whitewashed and driftwood-grey wood, open cane and rattan, turned or rope-wrapped legs, and relaxed round and square forms. It is the look buyers reach for in beach-house, Hamptons, Mediterranean and resort ranges. The trap is building it in printed board that peels and fades. We build the coastal look in real Jodhpur solid wood, finish it to a uniform tone across a whole container, and back every lot with the timber-legality paperwork most exporters cannot produce — so the airy piece you photograph is the one that lands.

The materials & why they work

Coastal is a finish, but it starts with the right wood.

Mango & acacia

Both are durable, sustainably farmed hardwoods with open grain that absorbs lime-wash and weathered-grey tones without blotching. Light in weight for the look, hard enough for a lamp, a book stack and daily hotel use.

Reclaimed & old wood

Salvaged timber arrives with its own silvered, sea-worn patina — the most authentic coastal character there is, and a genuine deforestation-free, FSC-aligned sustainability claim for your range.

Cane, rattan & rope

Woven cane shelves and door panels, rattan wraps and rope-bound legs add the breezy, handmade texture that reads as coastal instantly — and nest or flat-pack to keep freight down.

Light wrought-iron and aged-brass detail can be added for a nautical edge without losing the airy feel. For the full material background, see our mango wood guide and the reclaimed-wood range.

The compliance edge

A light finish on fully documented wood.

A coastal side table crosses the same border as any timber piece, and under the EU Deforestation Regulation its wood needs geolocated, deforestation-free due diligence. Our mango and acacia are Vriksh-verified with FSC chain-of-custody, our whitewash and lacquer are CARB / TSCA Title VI low-VOC, and we support US Lacey Act declarations and UK Timber Regulation — so a breezy, low-value SKU never becomes a customs problem.

Care & finish

Keeping a whitewashed, cane-detailed piece looking fresh.

Dust with a dry or barely damp cloth, wipe spills promptly, and use coasters under glasses and planters — a light finish shows rings faster than a dark one. Keep pieces out of constant direct sun and away from radiators; vacuum cane panels gently with a brush head. Solid-wood tops move a little with humidity — a normal trait of real wood, not a defect — and we can pre-condition finishes and tension cane for dry or humid, coastal destination climates on request.

Questions buyers ask

Coastal side tables, answered.

What makes a side table coastal style?

Coastal side tables use light, airy finishes and natural materials — whitewashed or weathered-grey solid wood, sun-bleached mango and acacia tones, cane or rattan panels, rope and turned legs, and open, relaxed forms. We build the look in genuine solid wood rather than printed panels, so it holds up on a retail floor and through a sea voyage.

Which woods and materials do you use for coastal side tables?

Mango and acacia take whitewash and driftwood-grey finishes beautifully, reclaimed and old wood give a weathered coastal character with a deforestation-free story, and we combine solid-wood frames with cane, rattan, jute and light wrought-iron or brass detail. Anything with a solid-wood component is in range; we do not position as a plywood or panel supplier.

What is the minimum order for coastal side tables?

A trial or sample order can ship LCL (part-container). For best wholesale pricing thereafter, one 20ft full container load is our standard minimum, and we consolidate coastal side tables with coffee tables, console tables and décor into a single mixed container.

Can you build coastal side tables to our own design or private label?

Yes. We are both ODM — you choose from our catalogue designs — and OEM, where we build to your drawings, dimensions, finish and private-label or retail-ready packaging, including custom CNC turning, cane weaving and bespoke whitewash tones matched to your swatch.

Are your coastal finishes safe for the US and EU markets?

Yes. Whitewash, lime-wash and matte lacquer are applied in low-VOC, CARB / TSCA Title VI-compliant finishes. The timber is FSC chain-of-custody and Vriksh-verified, EUDR-ready with geolocation and deforestation-free due diligence, and we support US Lacey Act declarations, UK Timber Regulation and ISPM-15 heat-treated export packing.

Do coastal side tables ship assembled or flat-pack?

Both. Turned-leg and cane-panel designs ship knockdown or flat-pack to cut freight and breakage and raise container density, while single-piece reclaimed and carved pieces ship fully assembled. We advise the best format per design when we quote.
