Why reclaimed wood for a bedside table

Character that's earned, not applied.

A nightstand is seen up close, every morning and every night, so honest material matters more here than on almost any other piece. Reclaimed wood delivers it: each board has a past — a beam, a door, a floor — and the drawer front and top of a reclaimed nightstand wear that past openly in mixed plank tones, old nail holes, saw and tool marks, and a soft patina only decades of use can produce. It is the heart of the farmhouse, rustic, industrial and wabi-sabi looks, and it reads as warm, grounded and authentic in a way distressed new wood never quite matches. Because each salvaged board is unique, every nightstand is genuinely one of a kind — the individuality designers and premium retail buyers prize. The style also tells the strongest sustainability story we offer: the timber is given a second life, no new tree is felled, and old wood stays out of the waste stream. We keep the aged surface and rebuild the structure beneath it, so the piece looks a century old but opens, closes and carries the lamp, book and water glass like new manufacture.

Sizes & build options

Bedside proportions, rebuilt to last.

We build the top close to mattress height so a lamp, book and glass sit within easy reach, and we tailor width, depth, drawer count and finish to the room. Every dimension below is a starting point — we manufacture to your exact drawing, and we can match a nightstand's height and finish to a specific bed or headboard.

Import-ready compliance

Salvaged timber, fully documented.

Reclaimed wood is a sustainability asset and we document it to match. Every reclaimed nightstand ships with FSC chain-of-custody on request, Vriksh timber-legality verification, and EUDR-ready geolocation and deforestation-free due diligence — reclaimed stock supports a strong deforestation-free position because the timber is salvaged rather than newly felled. We provide US Lacey Act declaration support, UK Timber Regulation coverage and CARB / TSCA formaldehyde-compliant finishes, with social and quality assurance under SEDEX / SMETA, ISO and SGS inspection, and ISPM-15 heat-treated export packing. Certificate references go directly to serious buyers — never published. Your eco story and your customs file are built on the same evidence.

Care & durability

Old surface, new structure, long life.

A reclaimed nightstand is built to keep its character while performing night after night. We re-mill and kiln-dry salvaged timber to a stable moisture content, strip out old fixings and weak sections, and rebuild with fresh, reinforced joinery and properly fitted drawer runners, so the structure is sound for decades even though the surface looks a century old. In use, dust with a soft dry cloth and wipe with a barely damp one; wipe up water-glass rings promptly and avoid soaking and harsh solvents, which can lift the aged patina you paid for. A waxed or oiled finish can be refreshed once or twice a year to feed the grain, and drawer runners benefit from an occasional light wax. The marks, tonal shifts and minor surface irregularities are the point of the piece — they are preserved deliberately, not flaws to be corrected. Full care and finish guidance ships with every order so your retail and hospitality customers get consistent advice.

Questions buyers ask

Reclaimed nightstand sourcing, answered.

Is your reclaimed wood genuinely salvaged, or just distressed new wood?

It is genuinely salvaged — old timber reclaimed from retired structures, boards and joinery, re-milled and rebuilt into nightstands. That is why the character is real: nail holes, saw marks, tonal shifts and old patina are the wood's actual history, not a factory-applied distress. Where a buyer wants the look at a lower cost we can offer distressed new timber instead, and we always tell you exactly which you are specifying.

Do your reclaimed nightstands have working drawers?

Yes. We build one-drawer and two-drawer reclaimed nightstands, open-shelf designs, and drawer-over-shelf combinations, with the choice of smooth-running drawer runners or traditional wooden runners. Pulls can be forged iron, brass, turned wood or your own branded hardware, and we manufacture to your exact drawer configuration for contract and boutique projects.

What sizes are your reclaimed nightstands?

Typical bedside proportions run roughly 45–60 cm wide, 35–45 cm deep and 55–70 cm high, so the top sits close to mattress height. Those are starting points — we build to your drawing, match heights to a specific bed or headboard, and produce narrow versions for tight bedrooms or oversized versions for suites and master bedrooms.

Will the pair of nightstands match?

Each salvaged board is unique, so a reclaimed pair will share the style, dimensions and finish but carry slightly different plank tones and marks — that individuality is the point of reclaimed wood. Where a project needs the pair as closely matched as possible, we select boards for tonal consistency during production; tell us at the quote stage and we plan the cutting accordingly.

What is the sustainability story I can tell my customers?

Reclaimed wood gives salvaged timber a second life, so no new tree is felled for the piece and old wood is kept out of the waste stream. It is one of the most genuinely sustainable furniture materials there is, and it pairs with our FSC, Vriksh and EUDR-ready documentation. For eco-focused and premium retail it is an honest point of difference you can carry straight to the shelf.

Can you make reclaimed nightstands to our own design and brand?

Yes. We work as ODM (our catalogue designs) and OEM (your drawings, drawer layouts, hardware, finishes and private-label or retail-ready packaging), including reclaimed-and-iron industrial builds and nightstands produced to match a reclaimed bed or a full bedroom collection as a coordinated range.
