Why wrought iron, and why from Jodhpur

Hand-forged iron that reads as heirloom, not hardware.

A wrought iron dining table is defined by its base — metal that has been physically worked, bent and forged rather than simply cut and bolted. That hand of the smith is what gives the table its decorative, traditional and Mediterranean character, and what separates it from a plain steel frame. Jodhpur is the ideal place to make it: the city is India's largest solid-wood furniture cluster and, alongside it, one of its oldest wrought-iron and metal-furniture clusters. The slab and the ironwork are forged, welded, finished and matched under one QC roof — not bought in from two unrelated suppliers — so the scrolls are even, the frame sits dead level, and the top and base arrive as a single designed piece.

Decorative character

Scrolled, forged and detailed frames give a traditional, Tuscan and farmhouse look that a straight steel base cannot — a headline piece buyers notice on the shelf.

Heavy, rigid, level

A forged iron base is weighty and dead-stable, carrying a wide slab without sag or wobble — ideal for long communal and restaurant tops.

Solid-wood warmth

A natural live edge top in acacia, sheesham, mango or reclaimed wood brings genuine grain and figure to the hard, dark metal beneath it.

Cost-advantaged craft

Genuine hand-forged ironwork at a competitive, container-friendly cost base — slab and frame produced in one place, under one QC line.

Scrolled and traditional frames, trestle, double-pedestal, cross-braced and X-frame designs — bent, forged, welded and ground smooth by hand.

Finishes

Powder-coated matte black, gunmetal, bronze, antique-iron or custom RAL on the base; raw clear-sealed and hand-waxed options for an artisanal look.

Four- to eight-seat tops, long communal and boardroom lengths, plus matching wrought-iron benches and consoles to complete a range.

Buyers use wrought-iron tops as statement pieces: traditional and farmhouse dining tables for independent retailers and online ranges, communal and bar tables for restaurants, cafés and wine bars, and reception and boardroom tops for hospitality fit-outs. The compliance edge

The wood clears customs; the iron clears quality.

A wrought-iron table carries one legal variable that matters at the port — the solid-wood slab. We cut it from Vriksh-verified, FSC chain-of-custody stock and prepare EUDR geolocation and deforestation-free due diligence before you ask, with CITES-compliant handling of sheesham. US Lacey Act declaration support, UK Timber Regulation, CARB / TSCA finishes and ISPM-15 packing are covered as standard. The ironwork is governed by the same QC line — welds inspected, scrolls checked for symmetry, powder coat checked for coverage and adhesion — under SEDEX / SMETA, ISO and third-party SGS oversight.

Care & handling

Keeping a slab flat and a forged frame rust-free.

Our slabs are kiln-dried to export moisture levels and engineered to move with the seasons — butterfly keys, breadboard ends and slotted base fixings let a wide top expand and contract without splitting against the rigid iron. For your end customers the care story is simple: keep the table out of direct heat and prolonged sun, wipe the wood with a soft dry or barely-damp cloth, use mats under hot dishes, and wipe the powder-coated iron with a dry or lightly damp cloth — no abrasives, which protect the coat that keeps the metal rust-free. Oil-finished tops benefit from a periodic re-oil; lacquered tops need only routine dusting; hand-waxed iron can be refreshed with a fresh wax coat. We supply finish-specific care guidance per order so retailers and hospitality buyers can brief their own customers correctly.

Pair your wrought-iron tops with matching wrought iron dining chairs and forged-base benches to ship a complete, single-source dining range in one container.

Questions buyers ask

Wrought iron dining tables — FAQs.

What is a wrought iron dining table?

It is a dining table built on a base of hand-worked iron — bent, forged and welded into legs, trestles or scrolled frames — carrying a solid-wood top. On our live edge program the top is a natural-edge slab of acacia, sheesham, mango or reclaimed wood. Wrought iron gives a heavy, rigid, decorative frame with a traditional, rustic and Mediterranean character, while the wood brings warmth and grain.

What is the difference between wrought iron and a plain steel base?

Wrought iron is worked by hand — bent, scrolled and forged — so it suits ornamental, traditional, Tuscan and farmhouse frames with curves and detail. Box-section and flat-bar mild steel suits crisp modern trestle, A-frame and hairpin designs. We fabricate both in Jodhpur; the wrought-iron look is heavier and more decorative, the steel look leaner and more industrial. For straight modern frames see our iron and wood tables.

What sizes do your wrought iron dining tables come in?

We build to order. Typical formats run from a 4-seat 1400–1600 mm top to 8-seat tables at 2200–2400 mm, with communal and boardroom lengths of 2600–3600 mm and slab thickness of 40–75 mm. As an OEM manufacturer we also match your exact length, width, edge profile, base scroll pattern and powder-coat colour.

How is the iron protected against rust for export?

Every base is shot-cleaned, then finished with a durable powder coat — most often matte black, but also gunmetal, bronze, antique-iron or custom RAL colours — which seals the metal against moisture and daily wear. Raw clear-sealed and hand-waxed finishes are available for a more artisanal look. Powder coat is why a wrought-iron frame stays rust-free through ocean freight and years of restaurant use.

Are your wrought iron dining tables compliant for import into the US and EU?

Yes. The legal variable is the solid-wood top: we document FSC chain-of-custody and Vriksh timber-legality, handle CITES-compliant sheesham, and are EUDR-ready with geolocation and deforestation-free due diligence. We support US Lacey Act declarations and UK Timber Regulation, finishes meet CARB / TSCA Title VI formaldehyde norms, and packing is ISPM-15 heat-treated.

Can wrought iron dining tables ship flat-pack?

Yes, and it is the smart way to ship them. The iron base bolts off the slab top and packs flat, which lowers freight cost and breakage risk and raises container density — important because a forged frame adds weight. Fully assembled tables are available on request; most importers and online sellers choose knockdown.
