Reclaimed solid wood dining table with patina top and iron base, made in Jodhpur

What a reclaimed dining table is — and how we build it

A reclaimed dining table is made from timber that has already lived a first life — old building beams, demolished doors and window frames, railway sleepers and decades-old furniture — recovered, graded and re-milled into a new top rather than cut fresh from the forest. That history is the point: the wood arrives with genuine age marks, filled nail holes, tonal variation and a worn patina that no stain or print can fake. Every table is literally one of a kind.

Our process turns salvage into export-grade furniture. Each board is de-nailed, kiln-treated to stabilise moisture and kill any pests, then re-milled and jointed into a flat, true top. Bases are built from new solid wood or wrought iron to carry the weight, with mortise-and-tenon or bolt-through joinery. Because the timber has already dried and moved for decades, the finished top is dense and dimensionally stable — a practical strength, not only an aesthetic one.

As a manufacturer-exporter, we specify every table for a buyer's market before it ships: the mix and tone of the salvaged wood, the top thickness, the edge profile, the base style, the finish sheen and the packaging. Nothing is a fixed stock SKU you have to accept as-is.

Why reclaimed sells

A story on the shelf, and a claim at customs

Reclaimed wood carries two things most dining ranges can't — a visible provenance your customers pay a premium for, and the strongest sustainability position in solid-wood furniture.

Authentic character

Nail holes, bolt marks, colour variation and genuine wear give every top the rustic, industrial or wabi-sabi look designers and photographers reach for. No two pieces are identical, which is the selling point, not a defect.

Deforestation-free sourcing

Because the timber is salvaged, not newly felled, reclaimed lines are the clearest answer to EUDR and Lacey-driven buyer questions about where the wood came from — a real advantage in US and EU retail.

Proven stability

Old-growth and long-seasoned timber has finished most of its movement. Re-milled and kiln-treated, it resists warping and holds a flat top better than much freshly sawn stock.

Finishes & use cases

Finishes that honour the wood's history

Natural & oiled

Low-sheen oiled or waxed finishes that let the original grain, colour shifts and wear read clearly — the truest reclaimed look, and easy to spot-repair. Formaldehyde-compliant for US and EU homes.

Distressed & whitewash

Lightly limed or dry-brushed tops that lift a weathered, coastal or Scandinavian-rustic range while keeping the salvaged texture visible.

Industrial two-tone

Dark-stained or richly aged tops paired with a wrought-iron or black-steel base for an industrial / loft aesthetic that photographs strongly online.

Reclaimed tables anchor premium residential dining ranges, but they carry just as well into hospitality and contract projects — restaurants, cafés, breweries, resorts and reception areas that want warmth, durability and a sense of place in one piece. Pair them with benches, cross-back or metal chairs to ship a complete dining program.

Why source reclaimed dining tables from us

Reclaimed is a high-scrutiny, high-return category — buyers judge the authenticity of the wood, the integrity of the build and the strength of the paperwork. We are built for all three.

  • Genuine salvage, properly processed. Real reclaimed timber — de-nailed, kiln-treated and re-milled — not new wood artificially distressed to imitate age.
  • Compliance-proven. FSC chain-of-custody and Vriksh timber-legality verification, EUDR due-diligence and geolocation ready, US Lacey Act declaration support, UKTR, and CARB / TSCA Title VI finishes. Certificate details are shared with serious buyers one-to-one.
  • Scale with QC. Our own factory plus a vetted Jodhpur manufacturing network takes you from a trial order to repeat container volumes under managed quality control. Factory visit available on prior intimation.
  • Freight-smart forms. Flat-pack / knockdown tables cut breakage and maximise container density — a real landed-cost advantage for importers and online sellers.
  • Custom & private-label. ODM plus OEM, CNC work and bespoke sizing, with custom, retail-ready and Amazon-FBA-ready packaging.
  • Single-source consolidation. Combine reclaimed dining with bedroom, décor and metalware in one compliant container instead of juggling vendors.

If deforestation-free sourcing is a gate for your market, review our EUDR readiness and timber-legality documentation — reclaimed lines are among the easiest to clear.

Care & longevity

Reclaimed solid wood rewards simple care and ages gracefully. Wipe spills promptly, use coasters and trivets, and keep the table away from direct heat and prolonged direct sun to limit movement. Re-oil or re-wax oiled finishes once or twice a year to feed the wood and refresh the sheen; lacquered tops need only a damp cloth and a mild cleaner. Minor dents and scratches simply add to the patina and can be sanded and spot-treated locally — a reclaimed top is built to gather character, not to be discarded. We supply care guidance and finish details with every order so your customers keep their tables looking right for years.

FAQs

Reclaimed dining table questions, answered

What is a reclaimed wood dining table made from?

It is built from genuine salvaged solid timber — old doors, beams, railway sleepers and retired furniture recovered and re-milled rather than freshly cut. The wood keeps its real age, nail holes, saw marks and patina, so every top is one of a kind and the sustainability story is authentic, not printed on.

Are reclaimed dining tables durable enough for daily and contract use?

Yes. Reclaimed hardwood has already dried and moved for decades, so it is dense, stable and less prone to warping than new timber. We kiln-treat, de-nail and re-mill every board, then build with mortise-and-tenon or bolt-through joinery — strong enough for homes and for restaurant, café and resort floors.

Do you ship reclaimed dining tables flat-pack or assembled?

Both. We make assembled tables and knockdown / flat-pack (RTA) versions where the top and base detach. Flat-pack lowers freight cost and breakage and packs more density per container — ideal for large importers and online sellers.

What sizes and seating do reclaimed dining tables come in?

Standard rectangular tops run from roughly 180 cm (seats 6) to 240 cm (seats 8) and 300 cm (seats 10), at the standard 76 cm dining height, with extendable and custom lengths on request. We also build square, round and live-edge / river-resin variants to spec.

Are reclaimed dining tables compliant for the US and EU markets?

Yes. We work with FSC chain-of-custody and Vriksh timber-legality verification, are EUDR due-diligence and geolocation ready, support US Lacey Act declarations and UKTR, and use CARB / TSCA Title VI formaldehyde-compliant finishes. Reclaimed lines also strengthen a deforestation-free sourcing claim. Certificate details go to serious buyers directly.

Can you private-label or customise a reclaimed dining table?

Yes. We work ODM (our ready designs) and OEM (make-to-your-spec), with CNC work, bespoke sizing, your choice of base and finish, and custom, retail-ready or Amazon-FBA-ready packaging.
