Iron and wood console tables — solid timber tops on hand-forged metal bases.
The iron-and-wood console is Jodhpur's signature pairing: a warm solid-wood top set on a slim, hand-forged metal frame. We make both halves in-house — kiln-dried timber and welded steel — so the proportions, finish and fit stay consistent from a trial order up to repeat container volumes. Legally sourced, EUDR-ready, documented for your market.
Two materials, each doing the job the other can't.
A console is a tall, shallow table built to live against a wall — in an entryway, a hallway or behind a sofa. That slim footprint is exactly why the iron-and-wood pairing suits it so well. Solid timber gives the top its warmth, grain and weight, the surface a buyer actually sees and touches; but a thick wood top on thin wooden legs would rack and sway in a narrow build. A hand-forged steel frame solves that — a low centre of gravity and welded joints hold the top dead square, in far less visual bulk than timber legs would need. The result is the warm-industrial look that has carried console tables through a decade of interior trends: honest wood over honest metal, nothing veneered or hidden. Because Jodhpur is as known for its ironwork as its timber, we forge the base and cut the top under one roof, which keeps the two components matched in scale and finish rather than mismatched from separate suppliers.
What an iron-and-wood console gives you.
| Attribute | Iron and wood console characteristic |
|---|---|
| Construction | Solid-wood top on a hand-forged mild-steel frame, welded or bolt-together — not veneer on tube |
| Top woods | Solid sheesham, mango, acacia, reclaimed / old wood; teak and rosewood for premium lines |
| Strength & rigidity | Very high — welded steel base holds a heavy timber top square without racking in a narrow build |
| Stability | Low centre of gravity; adjustable levelling feet on request for uneven lobby and hallway floors |
| Metal finish | Powder-coat (matte black and bronze lead; any RAL), baked lacquer, antique-rust, hammered or distressed |
| Wood finish | Natural, stained, distressed or two-tone; CARB / TSCA Title VI compliant low-formaldehyde coatings |
| Styles | Warm-industrial, rustic farmhouse, mid-century, colonial scrollwork, minimalist flat-bar |
| Best settings | Entryways, hallways, behind-sofa consoles, hotel and office lobbies, retail and showroom display |
Grain, colour and weld finish vary between pieces and workshops, which is why we recommend approving a physical console before production. Request a sample and we will send wood-tone and metal-finish references for your range. For the two materials in depth, see the wrought iron material guide and the sheesham wood guide.
Console proportions, matched to the wall they serve.
A console reads best sitting a little below the back of a sofa, or around standard table height against an open wall. Every dimension below is a standard starting point — we build iron-and-wood consoles to your exact length, depth and height for contract and hospitality projects.
| Type | Length | Depth | Height |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hallway console | 40–48 in · 102–122 cm | 12–14 in · 30–36 cm | 30–32 in · 76–81 cm |
| Entryway console | 48–60 in · 122–152 cm | 14–16 in · 36–41 cm | 30–34 in · 76–86 cm |
| Behind-sofa console | 60–72 in · 152–183 cm | 12–15 in · 30–38 cm | 28–32 in · 71–81 cm |
| Narrow / slimline | 36–42 in · 91–107 cm | 9–11 in · 23–28 cm | 30–32 in · 76–81 cm |

An iron-and-wood console that clears customs cleanly.
The wood top is what brings an iron-and-wood console inside the timber regulations tightening across your markets — so we built the documentation around it. Every console ships with FSC chain-of-custody on request, Vriksh timber-legality verification, and EUDR-ready geolocation and deforestation-free due diligence on the wood, including CITES-compliant handling of sheesham. We provide US Lacey Act declaration support, UK Timber Regulation coverage, and CARB / TSCA formaldehyde-compliant finishes, with social and quality assurance under SEDEX / SMETA, ISO and SGS inspection, and ISPM-15 heat-treated export packing. Certificate references go directly to serious buyers — never published.
| Area | Our standard |

Two materials, two simple routines — both built to last.
The metal frame asks for almost nothing: dust it and wipe with a soft, slightly damp cloth, avoid abrasive pads that could score the coating, and — because the base is forged from solid steel and welded at the joints — there is nothing to loosen or wobble over years of service. That is why this build suits hotel and office lobbies as readily as homes. The wood top takes the usual timber care: wipe spills promptly, keep it out of direct sun and away from heat sources, and re-oil or wax periodically on natural-finish tops. Kiln-drying the timber before it is cut is what keeps the top from cracking once it reaches a dry, heated or air-conditioned interior. We ship finish and care guidance for both the metal and the wood with every order so your after-sales team gives consistent advice, and we can supply touch-up finish and levelling feet for the uneven floors common in older buildings and heritage hotels.
Iron and wood console sourcing, answered.
What is an iron and wood console table?
It is a slim, wall-height table that pairs a solid-wood top with a hand-forged iron frame. The timber brings warmth, grain and colour; the metal gives a narrow, strong base that holds the top square against a wall. Jodhpur has deep craft traditions in both materials, so we build the two together in one workshop rather than buying in a bought-in frame — which keeps the proportions, joinery and finish consistent across a production run.
Which woods do you use for iron and wood console tops?
Solid sheesham (Indian rosewood), mango and acacia are the volume choices, each with distinct grain and tone; reclaimed and old wood give a weathered, one-of-a-kind top for industrial and rustic ranges; teak and rosewood suit premium lines. We cut the top to your thickness, edge profile and finish, so the same iron base can carry several looks across your catalogue.
How do you stop the metal rusting and the wood splitting in transit?
The iron frame is shot-blasted to clean steel and powder-coated or baked-lacquered to seal it against moisture, with heavier coat builds for coastal and humid markets. The timber is kiln-dried to a controlled moisture content before it is cut, which is what prevents cracking and warping after the piece lands in a dry centrally-heated or air-conditioned room. Both sit in ISPM-15 heat-treated export packing with corner protection.
Can you make iron and wood consoles to our own design and finish?
Yes. We work ODM from our catalogue and OEM to your drawings — frame geometry and bar thickness, wood species, top dimensions and edge, metal powder-coat colour, wood stain, and private-label or retail-ready packaging. We prototype a sample for sign-off before any production run so you approve the real metal-and-wood pairing, not a render.
What is your minimum order for iron and wood console tables?
A trial or sample order can ship LCL (part-container). For best wholesale pricing thereafter, one 20ft full container load is our standard minimum. Because the metal bases knock down flat and nest, we consolidate consoles with side tables, shelving, mirrors and other iron-and-wood pieces into a single mixed container.
Do iron and wood consoles ship assembled or flat-packed?
Both. Welded one-piece bases ship assembled with the wood top boxed separately; bolt-together bases ship knockdown (flat-pack / RTA) to cut freight and breakage — the format online sellers and large importers usually prefer. Flat-pack also maximises container density, lowering your landed cost per unit.
Approve the wood and the metal, then ship from one container up.
Approve the wood tone, top edge and powder-coat finish on a physical sample, then scale from a trial order to repeat container volumes on a 30–45 day lead time — QC-governed and documented for your market.
