Rustic chests of drawers — solid-wood farmhouse dressers built for character.
Rustic is the range that sells on warmth: visible grain, honest iron hardware and hand-finished surfaces that feel made, not manufactured. We build it in Jodhpur across mango, sheesham, acacia, reclaimed and pine — kiln-dried, dovetailed and fully compliant — from a single trial order up to repeat container volumes.
Character you can see — and a build you can stand behind.
Rustic is a look, not a single material. It celebrates the honest nature of solid wood: open grain, natural knots, live or softly chamfered edges, and distressed, weathered or hand-rubbed finishes that read as lived-in rather than factory-smooth. Forged-iron cup handles, black-iron corner straps and turned-wood knobs complete the farmhouse, cottage and country language that retail and hospitality buyers keep asking for. We build that look across five of our solid woods — mango, sheesham, acacia, reclaimed and pine — so you can choose the tone, grain and price point without losing the warmth. Underneath the character is a serious piece of furniture: every board is kiln-dried for stability, drawer boxes are dovetailed or dowelled with proper runners, and the whole chest is finished in formaldehyde-compliant coatings. Rustic style, export-grade build.
One rustic look, five ways to hit your price and tone.
The rustic style carries across our solid woods — the right one depends on the grain, colour and cost your range needs. Each links to its full material profile.
| Wood | Rustic character | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Mango | Rich, varied grain contrast; takes distressing and stain beautifully; competitive cost | Volume farmhouse ranges with the most grain for the money |
| Sheesham | Dense, dark, premium grain; deep natural figure | Higher-end rustic and heritage-look dressers |
| Acacia | Bold, wavy figure and strong colour variation; very hard-wearing | Statement rustic pieces and high-traffic use |
| Reclaimed | Genuine age — patina, nail holes and saw marks; deforestation-free story | Vintage, industrial and sustainability-led ranges |
| Pine | Light, knotty, soft cottage tone; the most budget-friendly | Painted cottage and entry-price rustic lines |

Rustic styling is a finish story — but the timber underneath still has to clear customs cleanly, so we document it. Every rustic chest ships with FSC chain-of-custody where specified, Vriksh timber-legality verification and CITES-compliant handling of sheesham, with EUDR-ready due diligence and geolocation for the EU market. We provide US Lacey Act declaration support, UK Timber Regulation coverage, and CARB / TSCA Title VI formaldehyde-compliant finishes, backed by SEDEX / SMETA social audit, ISO quality management and SGS inspection, and ISPM-15 heat-treated export packing. Certificate references go directly to serious buyers — never published.

Lived-in looks, built to keep working.
The distressed and weathered character of a rustic chest sits inside a protective finish — wax, oil or lacquer — so the surface reads as aged while still wiping clean and resisting daily wear. Dust with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth and wipe spills promptly; avoid harsh solvents, which can lift waxed and distressed surfaces. Waxed finishes benefit from a light refresh once a year to stay mellow, while lacquered pieces need only routine cleaning. Because every board of solid wood is kiln-dried before joinery, the carcass and drawer boxes stay stable and square in heated and air-conditioned rooms, and dovetailed or dowelled corners keep drawers gliding for years. Natural grain, knots and colour variation are intentional and part of the rustic appeal — we match the overall tone and distress level within each piece and keep an order coherent to the approved sample. Full care and finish guidance ships with every order so your retail and contract customers get consistent advice.
Rustic chest sourcing, answered.
What makes a chest of drawers rustic?
Rustic is a style, not a single wood. It leans into the natural look of solid timber — visible grain, knots, live or chamfered edges, distressed or lightly weathered finishes, and honest hardware like forged-iron cup pulls and black-iron corner straps. We build the look in mango, sheesham, acacia, reclaimed and pine, so you can choose the price point and tone while keeping the warm, handcrafted farmhouse character buyers want.
Which wood is best for a rustic chest of drawers?
All of our rustic woods work; the choice depends on your range. Mango wood gives the richest grain contrast at a competitive cost and takes distressing well. Sheesham offers a darker, denser premium grain. Acacia brings bold figure and durability. Reclaimed wood gives genuine age and the strongest sustainability story, while pine is the lightest, most budget-friendly cottage option. We will sample two or three on request so you can compare before committing.
Are rustic finishes and distressing durable?
Yes. The distressed, hand-rubbed and weathered looks are built into protected finishes — wax, oil or lacquer in CARB / TSCA Title VI formaldehyde-compliant formulations — so the character stays on the surface but the piece wipes clean and resists daily wear. Because the wood is kiln-dried and the drawer boxes are dovetailed or dowelled with proper runners, rustic styling never comes at the cost of drawer action or structural life.
What is your minimum order for rustic chests of drawers?
A trial or sample order can ship LCL (part-container). For best wholesale pricing thereafter, one 20ft full container load is our standard minimum, and we consolidate rustic chests with beds, sideboards, consoles, nightstands and other categories into a single mixed container.
Can you make rustic chests to our own design and finish?
Yes. We work as ODM (our catalogue designs) and OEM (your drawings, dimensions, distress level, stain and hardware), including custom CNC detailing, iron-and-wood builds, and knockdown / flat-pack construction to cut freight. We lock the exact distress and tone on an approved sample so every unit in the run matches.
Do rustic chests ship flat-pack to save freight?
They can. We build rustic chests assembled or as knockdown / flat-pack (RTA), which lowers freight cost and breakage and suits large importers and online sellers. Flat-pack also maximises container density. We finish with carton, retail-ready, Amazon-FBA-ready or branded packaging, ISPM-15 heat-treated and shipped FOB or CIF from Mundra / Nhava Sheva.
Lock the wood and finish on a sample, then ship from one container up.
Approve the wood, distress level and hardware on a physical sample, then scale from a trial order to repeat container volumes on a 30–45 day lead time — QC-governed and documented for your market. Compare woods and configurations on the chests of drawers hub, or read the related reclaimed wood chest of drawers page for the salvaged-timber version of the look.
