Why reclaimed wood for a chest of drawers

Every drawer front carries a history you cannot manufacture.

Reclaimed wood gives a chest of drawers something new timber never can: genuine age. Our boards are salvaged from dismantled buildings, old doors, beams, boats and railway stock across India — mostly old teak and sheesham — and they arrive carrying real patina, weathered grain, nail holes, bolt scars and saw marks. We mill, de-nail, grade and kiln-treat each one, then build it into a drawer front or carcass, so no two dressers are ever identical. There is a practical bonus to old wood, too: having air-dried for decades, it has done most of its moving, which makes it exceptionally stable once rebuilt. And it carries the strongest sustainability story in our range — it reuses hardwood already felled decades ago, needs no new felling, and is deforestation-free by design, which positions it perfectly for EUDR-aligned ranges. Character, stability and conscience in one piece.

Import-ready compliance

The deforestation-free dresser, fully documented.

Reclaimed wood is the easiest story to defend under tightening timber law — it reuses already-felled hardwood and is deforestation-free by design — but documentation still matters, so we provide it. Every reclaimed chest ships with EUDR-ready due diligence, Vriksh timber-legality verification, and documented salvaged-sourcing and chain-of-custody records. We provide US Lacey Act declaration support, UK Timber Regulation coverage, and CARB / TSCA Title VI formaldehyde-compliant finishes, with social and quality assurance under SEDEX / SMETA, ISO and SGS inspection, and ISPM-15 heat-treated export packing. Certificate references go directly to serious buyers — never published.

Care & durability

Old wood, rebuilt to work like new.

Reclaimed boards are de-nailed, graded and kiln-treated before joinery, which also clears any residual pests and sets a stable moisture level — so rebuilt drawers stay square and glide cleanly. The surface character, including nail holes and saw marks, is intentional and part of the appeal; it is sealed or waxed so it stays clean and does not snag clothing. Dust with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth and wipe spills promptly; avoid harsh solvents, which can lift painted and distressed finishes. A light wax refresh once a year keeps waxed surfaces mellow. Because tone varies naturally across salvaged boards, we match the overall look within each piece and keep an order coherent to the approved style. Full care and finish guidance ships with every order so your retail and contract customers get consistent advice.

Questions buyers ask

Reclaimed wood chest sourcing, answered.

What is a reclaimed wood chest of drawers made from?

Our reclaimed chests are built from genuine salvaged timber — old teak, sheesham and hardwood rescued from dismantled buildings, doors, beams, boats and railway stock across India. Each piece carries real history in its surface: old patina, grain, nail holes, saw marks and bolt scars, so no two dressers are ever identical. We mill, de-nail, grade and kiln-treat every board before it becomes a drawer front or carcass.

Is reclaimed wood stable enough for drawers?

Yes — often more so than fresh timber. Reclaimed hardwood has typically air-dried for decades, so most of its movement is long finished, leaving it very stable. We re-grade and kiln-treat every board, rebuild drawer boxes with dovetail or dowelled corners, and fit new runners, so you get the character of old wood with the reliable drawer action of new joinery.

Is reclaimed wood more sustainable?

It is among the most sustainable choices available. Reclaimed timber reuses wood already harvested decades ago, so it requires no new felling and keeps usable hardwood out of waste — inherently deforestation-free. That makes it a strong fit for EUDR-aligned ranges, and we back it with documented sourcing and chain-of-custody records.

Will every chest look the same across an order?

No — and that is the appeal. Reclaimed dressers vary in exact tone, grain and markings from piece to piece, which is why buyers choose them. We control the overall look to a defined range — multi-tone natural, painted multicolour fronts, or a consistent stain over mixed boards — so your order is coherent while each unit stays unique. Approve a sample to lock the style.

What is your minimum order for reclaimed wood chests?

A trial or sample order can ship LCL (part-container). For best wholesale pricing thereafter, one 20ft full container load is our standard minimum, and we consolidate reclaimed chests with sideboards, beds, consoles and other categories into a single mixed container.

Can you make reclaimed chests to our own design?

Yes. We work as ODM (our catalogue designs) and OEM (your drawings, dimensions, finishes and private-label or retail-ready packaging), including multicolour painted fronts, iron-and-reclaimed-wood builds, carved-panel fronts, and knockdown builds to cut freight.
