Rubberwood benches — eco plantation hardwood for value seating programs.
Rubberwood is the quietly smart value choice: a genuine plantation hardwood with a clean, even grain and a real sustainability story. We manufacture rubberwood dining, entryway and contract benches in Jodhpur — kiln-dried and treated, FSC and EUDR-ready, finished to your spec and shipped from a single trial order up to repeat container volumes.
Plantation hardwood with an even grain — and a genuine green credential.
Rubberwood (Hevea brasiliensis) is one of the most under-rated value timbers in furniture, and its story is unusually clean. Rubber trees are grown on plantations for latex; once a tree's yield falls after roughly 25–30 years, the timber was traditionally burned. Turning it into benches gives the plantation a second income and keeps a usable hardwood out of the fire — a real by-product sustainability story, not a marketing one. As a material, rubberwood is a medium-density hardwood with good load-bearing strength for seating and a tight, even, pale blonde grain that takes stain and paint exceptionally evenly. That makes it a near-perfect blank canvas for Scandinavian, contemporary and painted ranges produced at volume, where consistency matters more than dramatic figure. The one requirement is discipline in drying and treatment — untreated rubberwood is prone to moisture and insects — which is why we supply it kiln-dried and properly treated as standard. Indoors, and at the right price, it is hard to beat.

Rubberwood is prized for consistency, but we still recommend approving a physical bench and finish before production. Request a rubberwood sample and we will send grain and finish references. For the full species profile, see the rubberwood material guide.

Finished to your brief, built for reliable indoor service.
Rubberwood is kiln-dried to stable moisture levels and treated before joinery — the single most important step for this species — so a finished bench is stable, reliable and resistant to the insect and moisture issues that affect untreated rubberwood. A sealed or painted bench wipes clean with a soft, slightly damp cloth; avoid soaking, harsh solvents and prolonged standing water, and attend to spills promptly. Keep benches out of direct sun and away from radiators and heating vents to limit colour shift and drying, as with any solid hardwood. Because rubberwood finishes so evenly, touch-ups and re-coats blend cleanly, which is useful for contract programs. Rubberwood is an indoor-only timber; for outdoor or damp environments we recommend teak or acacia. Full care and finish guidance ships with every order so your retail and hospitality customers get consistent advice.
Rubberwood bench sourcing, answered.
Is rubberwood strong enough for a bench?
Yes. Rubberwood (Hevea brasiliensis) is a medium-density hardwood — Janka hardness around 980–1,000 lbf, comparable to mango — with a tight, even grain that gives it good load-bearing strength for dining, entryway and contract benches. The key is correct kiln-drying and treatment, which we do as standard, so the finished bench is stable and reliable indoors.
Why is rubberwood considered eco-friendly?
Because it is a true by-product. Rubber trees are grown on plantations for latex; once a tree's latex yield falls after roughly 25–30 years, it was traditionally burned. Using that timber for furniture gives the plantation a second income and keeps a hardwood out of the fire — so rubberwood carries a strong sustainability story. We supply FSC chain-of-custody and Vriksh documentation on request with EUDR-ready due diligence.
What colour is rubberwood and how is it finished?
Rubberwood is a pale, light blonde-to-cream hardwood with a subtle, even grain, which makes it a blank canvas. It takes stain and colour very evenly, so we finish it in natural, oak, walnut, grey-wash or painted tones to match your range — all in CARB / TSCA Title VI formaldehyde-compliant formulations. Its uniform look suits Scandinavian, contemporary and value programs.
Is rubberwood only for indoor use?
Yes. Rubberwood is an indoor timber — untreated it is susceptible to moisture, fungal staining and insects, which is why we always supply it kiln-dried and properly treated. It is ideal for indoor dining, entryway and contract seating, but we recommend teak or acacia for outdoor or damp environments.
What is your minimum order for rubberwood benches?
A trial or sample order can ship LCL (part-container). For best wholesale pricing thereafter, one 20ft full container load is our standard minimum, and we consolidate rubberwood benches with dining tables, chairs and other categories into a single mixed container.
Can you make rubberwood benches to our own design?
Yes. We work as ODM (our catalogue designs) and OEM (your drawings, dimensions, finishes and private-label or retail-ready packaging). Rubberwood's even grain and clean machining make it especially good for simple, modern bench forms and painted or stained ranges produced at volume.
Sample the finish, then ship from one container up.
Approve the grain and finish on a physical sample, then scale from a trial order to repeat container volumes on a 30–45 day lead time — QC-governed and documented for your market. Read the full species profile on the rubberwood material guide, or compare woods and builds on the benches hub.
