Cane bar stools — hand-woven seats on solid-wood frames, built for export.
Natural cane and rattan seats worked onto kiln-dried sheesham, mango and acacia frames, in counter, bar and spectator heights. The warm, breathable, on-trend look your shelves and bar floors demand — with the compliance and container-readiness a serious import programme needs.
A woven seat that sells — on a timber frame that lasts.
A cane bar stool is a tall stool whose seat, and often its back, is a panel of hand-woven cane — the thin, glossy outer skin peeled from the rattan palm stem — set into a frame of kiln-dried solid wood. The weave delivers the airy, handcrafted, coastal-and-boho look that moves product; the timber beneath it carries the load. Because natural fibre alone cannot hold a heavy static weight indefinitely, we never build a stool from weave alone — the frame does the structural work, the cane does the visual work.
The material case for a woven stool range.
Cane and rattan are among the most renewable furniture fibres in the world — light, remarkably strong for their weight, and endlessly workable. Here is how the material behaves, so you can position it accurately for your market and listings.
| Attribute | Cane / rattan seat on a solid-wood frame |
|---|---|
| Seat material | Hand-woven natural cane (open "French cane" or closed weave); rattan poles for curves and backs |
| Frame material | Kiln-dried solid sheesham, mango or acacia — the load-bearing structure |
| Weight | Light for its strength — easy to merchandise, move and stack; lowers shipping weight |
| Look | Warm honey fibre, fine even weave; suits coastal, boho, Scandinavian and modern-organic ranges |
| Breathability | Open weave allows airflow — comfortable seating in warm and humid rooms |
| Renewability | Rattan matures in a few years, far faster than hardwood, and regrows from the same plant |
| Best environment | Indoor or covered / shaded bars and counters; protect natural fibre from direct rain and sun |
| Finishes | Natural, honey, cognac, black, white-wash and tinted lacquers — CARB / TSCA-compliant |
Every frame is engineered from a kiln-dried solid-wood structure so the timber carries the weight and the woven cane carries the look — the principle behind all of our cane and rattan furniture.
Standard heights, builds and finishes.
Match stool seat height to your counter or bar: allow roughly 10–12 in (25–30 cm) between the seat and the underside of the top for comfortable legroom. Each dimension below is a standard starting point — we weave to your exact specification for contract projects.

The woven cane is a non-timber forest fibre; the solid-wood frame beneath it is where timber legality applies — and that is where our paperwork does the work. Every cane bar stool ships with FSC chain-of-custody and Vriksh timber-legality on the frame, CITES-compliant handling of sheesham, EUDR-ready geolocation and deforestation-free due diligence, US Lacey Act declaration support, UK Timber Regulation, and CARB / TSCA formaldehyde-compliant finishes. Social and quality assurance is covered by SEDEX / SMETA, ISO and SGS inspection.
| Area | Our standard |
|---|---|
| Frame timber legality | Vriksh verified · CITES-compliant sheesham |
| Frame sustainability | FSC chain-of-custody · reclaimed options |
| EU market | EUDR-ready · geolocation · UKTR |
| US market | Lacey Act support · CARB / TSCA finishes |
| Social & quality | SEDEX / SMETA · ISO · SGS inspection |
| Export packing | ISPM-15 heat-treated · flat-pack options |
Keep a woven range selling, and returns low.
Well-made cane ages gracefully. Keep stools indoors or in shade — direct sun fades the fibre, and soaking or radiators make it brittle. Dust the weave with a soft brush or vacuum nozzle, and wipe the frame with a barely-damp cloth; refresh wood with furniture oil or wax and avoid harsh solvents. If cane webbing slackens over the years, a light mist on the underside followed by air-drying tightens it again. For hospitality we double-weave high-wear seats, reinforce joints and specify harder lacquers so stools hold up to daily commercial loading. Full care and finish guidance ships with every order.
Cane bar stools, answered.
What exactly is a cane bar stool?
A cane bar stool pairs a hand-woven cane or rattan seat — and often a woven back — with a load-bearing frame in kiln-dried solid wood such as sheesham, mango or acacia. The woven panel gives the airy, warm, coastal-to-boho look buyers want; the timber frame carries the weight. We do not build seating from weave alone, and every frame has a solid-wood component rather than plywood or particle board.
What seat heights do your cane bar stools come in?
We make three standard heights: counter stools at roughly 24–26 in (61–66 cm) for 36 in islands and café counters, bar stools at roughly 29–31 in (74–79 cm) for 40–42 in bar tops, and spectator or extra-tall stools at 33–36 in (84–91 cm) for raised and poseur bars. We also weave to your exact seat height for contract and hospitality projects.
Are cane bar stools strong enough for bars, cafés and hotels?
Yes, when built correctly. Because the kiln-dried solid-wood frame carries the load and the cane only forms the surface, a well-made cane stool stands up to commercial use. For heavy contract venues we reinforce joints, double-weave high-wear panels, add integral footrests and finish with hard-wearing CARB / TSCA-compliant lacquers.
Can cane bar stools be used outdoors?
Natural cane and rattan are best for indoor or fully covered, shaded settings — covered terraces, verandas and lounge bars — away from direct rain and prolonged sun, which dry and fade the fibre. For open-air and poolside bars we build the same silhouettes in weather-resistant synthetic (PE) weave on powder-coated or solid-wood frames.
What is your minimum order and lead time for cane bar stools?
A trial or sample order can ship LCL (part-container). For best wholesale pricing thereafter, one 20ft full container load is our standard minimum, and we consolidate cane stools with tables, chairs and décor in one mixed container. Typical lead time is 30–45 days; urgent orders are possible at a premium.
Can you make cane bar stools to our own design and brand?
Yes. We work as ODM, supplying our own catalogue of woven stools, and OEM, manufacturing to your drawings, dimensions, weave pattern, finish and private-label or retail-ready packaging — including custom CNC-cut frames, bespoke weave densities and branded or Amazon-FBA-ready cartons.
Send a reference, a drawing or a height spec — we'll weave it.
