Rosewood wardrobes — solid Indian rosewood, built for export.
A rosewood wardrobe is the bedroom piece customers keep for a lifetime — dense, dark-grained Dalbergia with real heft and a rich, figured face. We manufacture them in Jodhpur from solid timber, CITES-compliant and Vriksh-verified, and ship them assembled or flat-pack from a single trial piece up to repeat container volumes.
The densest hardwood in the bedroom range — a true premium ticket.
Rosewood is the trade name for the heartwood of the Dalbergia genus. For Jodhpur-made wardrobes, the working timber is almost always Dalbergia sissoo — sheesham, sold internationally as Indian rosewood — with the denser Dalbergia latifolia used where buyers want the darkest, most dramatic streaking. It is one of the hardest furniture timbers in the trade: sheesham rates around 1,660 lbf on the Janka scale and Indian rosewood (latifolia) around 2,400 lbf, both well above oak and far above pine. That density, plus the wood's natural oils, is exactly what a wardrobe needs — doors that stay square, hinges and rails that hold, and a surface that resists daily wear for decades. Every carcass, door and shelf is solid wood, never plywood or veneer.
Wood & construction
Solid Dalbergia sissoo / latifolia carcass with mortise-and-tenon joinery, dovetailed drawers, seasoned to reduce movement in transit and air-conditioned climates. Optional wrought-iron frames, brass fittings, soft-close hardware and mirror or cane fronts.
Grain, colour & finish
Deep brown-to-purple heartwood with golden sapwood contrast and natural dark streaking. Finished in oil, wax, hand-rubbed matte or lacquer — all CARB / TSCA-compliant and low-formaldehyde — in natural, honey, walnut, dark-chocolate or custom tones to your sample.
Who it is for
Premium retail bedroom collections, boutique and heritage ranges, hotel and resort guest rooms, serviced apartments and interior-design projects — plus flat-pack editions tuned for Amazon-FBA-ready and parcel-carrier delivery.

Rosewood is CITES-listed — so the paperwork is ready before you ask.
Dalbergia is listed on CITES Appendix II, which means rosewood wardrobes are scrutinised at the border more than most timbers. Our sheesham is sourced and shipped on a CITES-compliant basis and Vriksh-verified for legality, our chain-of-custody is FSC-documented, and our due diligence is EUDR-ready with geolocation and deforestation-free sourcing. We support US Lacey Act declarations, UK Timber Regulation, CARB / TSCA formaldehyde-compliant finishes and ISPM-15 heat-treated packing — so your container clears while others wait at the port. Certificate numbers are shared directly with serious buyers.

Finished to last on your retail floor and in your customer's home.
Rosewood rewards a good finish — oil and wax deepen its grain, while matte lacquer locks in colour for high-traffic rooms. We seal every wardrobe with CARB / TSCA-compliant, low-formaldehyde products and season the timber to limit movement in transit and in air-conditioned climates. End-care is simple: keep the piece out of prolonged direct sun to preserve its colour, dust with a dry or barely damp cloth, avoid standing water and harsh solvents, and re-oil or wax periodically. Flat-pack units arrive with fittings and clear assembly instructions, and finish, hardware and distress level are confirmed on the approved sample before production. We can supply printed care guidance for your packaging.
What buyers ask before ordering rosewood wardrobes.
What wood is a rosewood wardrobe made from?
A rosewood wardrobe is built from the solid heartwood of the Dalbergia genus. In the Indian export trade this usually means Dalbergia sissoo — known locally as sheesham and sold worldwide as Indian rosewood — and the denser, darker Dalbergia latifolia. The carcass, doors and shelves are genuine solid wood, not plywood or veneer, which gives the piece its weight, deep brown-to-purple grain and heirloom feel.
Is a rosewood wardrobe CITES-controlled, and can you export it legally?
Yes. Dalbergia species are listed on CITES Appendix II, so rosewood must be sourced and shipped with the correct legality paperwork. We handle Dalbergia sissoo (sheesham) on a CITES-compliant basis, backed by Vriksh timber-legality verification and FSC chain-of-custody, and we are EUDR-ready with geolocation and deforestation-free due diligence, with US Lacey Act and UK Timber Regulation support.
What sizes and door formats do rosewood wardrobes come in?
Formats run from a single-door wardrobe around 90 cm wide to two-, three- and four-door wardrobes up to roughly 180 cm wide and 200 cm tall, with hanging rails, adjustable shelves, base drawers and optional mirror or cane fronts. Every dimension, door count and internal layout is made to your market's standard heights and to container loading.
Can rosewood wardrobes ship flat-pack to save freight?
Yes. Because rosewood is a dense, heavy hardwood, flat-pack matters. We build rosewood wardrobes both fully assembled and as knockdown / flat-pack (RTA) units, which lower freight cost and transit breakage and raise container density — ideal for importers and online sellers — while assembled pieces suit showrooms and hospitality rooms.
What is the minimum order for rosewood wardrobes?
A trial or sample wardrobe can ship LCL (part-container) so you can approve the wood, finish and build first. For best wholesale pricing thereafter, one 20ft full container load is our standard minimum, and rosewood wardrobes can be mixed with beds, dressers and other furniture in one consolidated container. Typical lead time is 30–45 days, quoted FOB or CIF from Mundra or Nhava Sheva.
How do you finish and care for a rosewood wardrobe?
Rosewood takes oil, wax, matte lacquer and hand-rubbed finishes beautifully, deepening the grain, and we finish with CARB / TSCA-compliant, low-formaldehyde products. For end-buyers: keep the piece out of prolonged direct sun to preserve colour, dust with a dry or barely damp cloth, avoid standing water and harsh solvents, and re-oil or wax periodically. We supply this care guidance ready to print on your packaging.
