Wrought iron sideboards — hand-forged metal and solid-wood storage for export.
A wrought iron sideboard puts the metalwork on show: slim worked-iron legs and strapping carrying a solid-wood or marble top. We forge and finish the iron and build the cabinet at source in Jodhpur — legally sourced wood, FSC and EUDR-ready, finished to your spec and shipped from a single trial order up to repeat container volumes.
The metal is the design, not the afterthought.
Wrought iron means iron that has been worked — drawn, bent and forged — rather than poured into a mould. That worked bar is tough and ductile, so it can be made slim and still hold a loaded cabinet square, and it can be shaped into the scrollwork, tapered legs and riveted strapping that give the style its hand-made character. On a sideboard it does two jobs at once: it carries the structure, and it is the look. A thin black-iron frame under a warm solid-wood or pale marble top reads as light and considered in a way a heavy all-wood cabinet cannot — which is exactly why designers, independent retailers and hospitality buyers keep reordering it. This is Jodhpur's home ground rather than an add-on. The city's workshops have paired blacksmithing with solid-wood joinery for generations, so we forge the metal and build the carcass under one roof, matching a genuine hardwood or marble top to a square, cleanly welded and well-finished iron frame — with wood tone and metal colour controlled independently so both land exactly where your range needs them.
What wrought iron brings to a sideboard.
| Attribute | Wrought iron sideboard characteristic |
|---|---|
| Frame | Worked-iron legs, uprights, strapping and pulls — drawn, bent and welded, not cast; slim yet load-bearing |
| Top options | Solid sheesham, mango, acacia or reclaimed wood; marble or stone on an iron apron |
| Finishes | Powder-coated matt black, gunmetal or antique bronze; or raw / waxed-metal for an artisanal look |
| Corrosion control | Degreased, treated and oven-cured powder coat resists indoor rust and chipping; heavier coatings for covered-outdoor use |
| Door fronts | Solid-wood panels, metal mesh / wire grille, or mixed wood-and-mesh — fixed or soft-close |
| Durability | The iron frame carries the load and keeps wide cabinets square; the top takes daily service and wipes clean |
| Freight efficiency | Knockdown (flat-pack / RTA) friendly — the frame bolts to the carcass and nests flat for container density |
| Sustainability | Reclaimed-wood tops available; FSC and Vriksh on request; EUDR-ready; iron is fully recyclable |
Wood grain and the exact depth of a distressed or antique-metal finish vary from piece to piece, so we recommend approving a physical finish panel before production. Request a wrought iron sideboard sample and we will send iron and wood references for your range. For the material behind the frame, see the wrought-iron material guide.

Café, bar, restaurant and hotel-reception storage that takes daily handling — the iron frame carries the load and stays square under commercial use. Build to hospitality and contract furniture specs.
Wood-and-iron sideboards documented to clear your market cleanly.
Timber-based furniture now sits squarely inside the regulations tightening across your markets, so we built the paperwork around them. Every wrought iron sideboard ships with FSC chain-of-custody on request, Vriksh timber-legality verification, and EUDR-ready geolocation and deforestation-free due diligence on the wood component. We provide US Lacey Act declaration support, UK Timber Regulation coverage, and CARB / TSCA Title VI formaldehyde-compliant finishes, with social and quality assurance under SEDEX / SMETA, ISO and SGS inspection, and ISPM-15 heat-treated export packing. Finished to your brief, built to take years of service.
A wrought iron sideboard splits its workload between two materials, and each wants slightly different care. The iron frame does the structural work: it carries the weight of a loaded cabinet, resists racking, and keeps a long credenza square and smooth-opening for years — a real advantage over all-wood builds on wide spans. To protect the metal, simply dust it and dry it after any contact with moisture so the powder-coat stays intact; a raw or waxed-metal finish is refreshed with a thin wipe of wax, and spot damage can be touched in. The solid-wood or marble top takes the daily life of the piece, so wipe wood with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry immediately, give it a periodic wax or light re-oil to keep the grain rich, and seal stone against staining. Avoid standing water, harsh solvents, abrasive pads and prolonged direct sun. Because the frame bolts to the carcass, a fitting can be re-torqued if a cabinet is handled hard in transit or on a busy floor. Full care and finish guidance ships with every order, so your retail and hospitality customers get consistent advice.
Wrought iron sideboard sourcing, answered.
What is a wrought iron sideboard?
A wrought iron sideboard is a low storage cabinet built on a frame of worked iron — legs, uprights, strapping and often handles shaped by hand or by press rather than cast — usually carrying a solid-wood or marble top and wood or mesh door fronts. Wrought iron is prized for its malleability: it can be drawn into slim square bar, bent into scrollwork, and forged into joints that stay rigid, which is why the frame can be elegant yet carry a fully loaded cabinet. We manufacture the style in Jodhpur, India's core cluster for pairing solid wood with hand-worked iron.
What finish is used on your wrought iron sideboards, and will it rust?
The iron is degreased, treated and then powder-coated or hand-waxed before the cabinet is assembled. Powder coat — matt black, gunmetal or antique bronze — is oven-cured to a hard, even skin that resists chipping and indoor corrosion far better than wet paint. A raw or waxed-metal finish is available for a more artisanal look and is refreshed with a thin wipe of wax. For covered-outdoor or coastal programmes we specify heavier protective coatings. Kept dry and dusted, the finish holds for years.
What tops and sizes do your wrought iron sideboards come in?
Tops are solid wood — sheesham, mango, acacia or reclaimed wood — or marble and stone on an iron apron. Standard sideboards run roughly 120-200 cm (47-79 in) wide, 40-45 cm (16-18 in) deep and 75-90 cm (30-36 in) high, in two-door, three-door, drawer-bank and open-shelf layouts. Because the iron frame and the top are made and finished separately, we build to your exact width, depth, top material and internal configuration for contract, retail and private-label programmes.
Do wrought iron sideboards ship flat-pack to save freight?
Yes. The iron frame, legs and strapping are engineered to bolt to the carcass and top, so the style suits knockdown (flat-pack / RTA) packing — the metalwork ships flat and nests tightly, cutting container volume and transit breakage. We also supply fully assembled, with carton, retail-ready, Amazon-FBA-ready or branded packaging, ISPM-15 heat-treated for export and shipped FOB or CIF from Mundra / Nhava Sheva.
Are wrought iron sideboards compliant for import into the US and EU?
Yes. The wood component ships with FSC chain-of-custody on request, Vriksh timber-legality verification and EUDR-ready geolocation and deforestation-free due diligence, with US Lacey Act declaration support, UK Timber Regulation coverage, and CARB / TSCA Title VI formaldehyde-compliant finishes. Social and quality assurance is covered under SEDEX / SMETA, ISO and SGS inspection, with ISPM-15 export packing. Certificate references go directly to serious buyers.
Can you build wrought iron sideboards to our own design or brand?
Yes. We are both ODM — our catalogue of ready frames and tops — and OEM, building to your drawings, bar gauges, scroll patterns, finishes and private-label requirements, including custom CNC carving on wood tops and fronts. We prototype and sample before production so you approve the forge pattern, finish and top before committing to a container.
Sample the iron and the top, then ship from one container up.
Approve the forge pattern, metal finish, top material and hardware on a physical sample, then scale from a trial order to repeat container volumes on a 30-45 day lead time — QC-governed and documented for your market. Compare the material on the wrought-iron material guide, or see woods, styles and layouts on the sideboards hub.
