What it is
A solid-wood buffet, not a veneered panel box
A sheesham sideboard is a long, low storage cabinet — buffet, credenza or server — built from sheesham (Indian rosewood, Dalbergia sissoo). The grain runs through the carcass, doors and drawer fronts; this is solid timber, not a thin veneer laminated over MDF or plywood. For importers, designers and hospitality buyers that means a piece that reads as genuine hardwood up close, holds screws and hinges for years, and can be refinished rather than replaced.
We build these in our Jodhpur furniture program — the recognized global hub for solid-wood export — as part of the sideboards range. Choose a ready design from our catalogue or send drawings for a bespoke build.
Why sheesham
The wood's properties — and what they do for your buyers
Dense & hard-wearing
Close-grained hardwood with high strength-to-weight. Resists dents and daily knocks, so it performs in homes, hotels and busy retail floors.
Deep, distinctive grain
Golden-brown to deep chocolate tones with dark streaking and natural variation — each sideboard is visibly unique, a genuine-hardwood selling point.
Dimensionally stable
Properly kiln-dried and moisture-controlled before joinery, so doors stay square and drawers run true across climates.
Takes any finish
Accepts oil, wax, lacquer and stain beautifully — from pale natural to near-black — supporting a wide retail assortment from one timber.
Refinishable & repairable
Solid through-section means surfaces sand back and refinish — a longevity and sustainability story for end customers.
Legally sourced
Handled under FSC chain-of-custody and Vriksh verification, with CITES-compliant documentation for a listed species.

Care & longevity
How a sheesham sideboard lasts
Sheesham rewards simple care. Wipe with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry immediately; avoid soaking or harsh solvents. Keep it out of direct heat and strong sun to preserve tone, and use coasters and mats against standing moisture. Re-oil or re-wax oiled finishes periodically to feed the grain. Because the piece is solid through, surface marks can be sanded and refinished — one reason sheesham reads as a long-term, low-waste purchase for end customers. We can supply care guidance as packaging inserts for your retail or private-label program.

Questions buyers ask
Sheesham sideboards — FAQs
What wood is a sheesham sideboard made from?
Sheesham is Indian rosewood (Dalbergia sissoo), a dense, close-grained hardwood prized for its strength, deep grain figure and natural tonal variation. Our sheesham sideboards are solid wood — not veneer over panel — with the grain running through the carcass, doors and drawer fronts.
Are sheesham sideboards suitable for export under CITES?
Yes. Dalbergia sissoo is a CITES-listed species, so legal export depends on correct documentation. We handle sheesham under CITES-compliant procedures with FSC chain-of-custody and Vriksh timber-legality verification, and support US Lacey Act declarations, UK Timber Regulation and EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) due diligence for your market.
Can sheesham sideboards ship flat-pack to cut freight?
Yes. We build sheesham sideboards both fully assembled and as knockdown / flat-pack (RTA). Flat-pack lowers container freight and breakage and raises load density — ideal for large importers and online sellers. We also offer retail-ready and Amazon-FBA-ready packaging.
What is the minimum order for sheesham sideboards?
A trial or sample order can ship LCL. For best competitive pricing, the minimum is one 20ft FCL, and you can mix sideboards with other categories in the same compliant container. Typical lead time is 30 to 45 days, with urgent orders at a premium.
What finishes are available and are they low-emission?
We offer natural oil, matte and satin lacquer, hand-rubbed wax, light-to-dark stains and distressed or two-tone looks. Finishes are specified to CARB / TSCA Title VI formaldehyde limits, so your sheesham sideboards are compliant for US and other regulated markets.
Do you make custom sheesham sideboard sizes and designs?
Yes. Beyond our ready ODM designs we build to your drawings under OEM / private-label, including custom dimensions, door and drawer configurations, CNC carving, metal bases and brass or iron hardware. Send a spec or a reference image for a quote.
