Iron and wood sideboards — solid-wood cabinets on hand-forged metal frames.
The iron-and-wood sideboard is Jodhpur's signature pairing scaled up to a storage piece: a solid-wood cabinet and top set into a slim, hand-forged metal frame. We make both halves in-house — kiln-dried timber joinery and welded steel — so proportions, finish and fit stay consistent from a trial order up to repeat container volumes. Legally sourced, EUDR-ready, documented for your market.
Two materials, each doing the job the other can't.
A sideboard is a long, low, heavily loaded cabinet — it holds tableware in a dining room, media and clutter in a living room, or linen and service items in a hotel corridor. That width is exactly where the iron-and-wood pairing earns its place. Solid timber gives the carcass its storage, its doors and drawers, and the grain a buyer actually opens and touches; but a wide wooden cabinet on turned wooden legs reads heavy and can rack as it is loaded and moved. A hand-forged steel frame solves that — a slim, rigid base that carries a long span dead level in a fraction of the visual bulk, so the cabinet appears to float above the floor. The result is the warm-industrial look that has carried sideboards through a decade of dining-room and media-wall trends: honest wood over honest metal, nothing veneered or hidden. Because Jodhpur is as known for its ironwork as its timber joinery, we forge the frame and build the cabinet in the same workshop, which keeps the two components matched in scale and finish rather than mismatched from separate suppliers.

Grain, colour and weld finish vary between pieces and workshops, which is why we recommend approving a physical sideboard before production. Request a sample and we will send wood-tone and metal-finish references for your range. For the two materials in depth, see the wrought iron material guide and the sheesham wood guide.
Sideboard proportions, matched to the room they serve.
A sideboard reads best sitting a little below worktop height, long enough to anchor a dining wall or media run without crowding it. Every dimension below is a standard starting point — we build iron-and-wood sideboards to your exact width, depth, height and door configuration for retail, contract and hospitality projects.
| Type | Width | Depth | Height |
|---|---|---|---|
| Compact / 2-door | 47 in · 120 cm | 16–18 in · 40–45 cm | 30–33 in · 76–84 cm |
| Standard / 3-door | 55 in · 140 cm | 16–18 in · 40–45 cm | 30–33 in · 76–84 cm |
| Large / 3–4 door | 63 in · 160 cm | 16–18 in · 40–45 cm | 30–33 in · 76–84 cm |
| Extra-wide / 4-door | 71 in · 180 cm | 16–18 in · 40–45 cm | 30–33 in · 76–84 cm |

An iron-and-wood sideboard that clears customs cleanly.
The solid-wood cabinet is what brings an iron-and-wood sideboard inside the timber regulations tightening across your markets — so we built the documentation around it. Every sideboard ships with FSC chain-of-custody on request, Vriksh timber-legality verification, and EUDR-ready geolocation and deforestation-free due diligence on the wood, including CITES-compliant handling of sheesham. We provide US Lacey Act declaration support, UK Timber Regulation coverage, and CARB / TSCA formaldehyde-compliant finishes, with social and quality assurance under SEDEX / SMETA, ISO and SGS inspection, and ISPM-15 heat-treated export packing. Certificate references go directly to serious buyers — never published.
| Area | Our standard |

Two materials, two simple routines — both built to last.
The metal frame asks for almost nothing: dust it and wipe with a soft, slightly damp cloth, avoid abrasive pads that could score the coating, and — because the frame is forged from solid steel and welded at the joints — there is nothing to loosen or wobble under a loaded cabinet over years of service. That is why this build suits hotel and restaurant service areas as readily as homes. The wood cabinet takes the usual timber care: wipe spills promptly, keep it out of direct sun and away from heat sources, and re-oil or wax periodically on natural-finish tops. Kiln-drying the timber before it is cut is what keeps the doors aligned and the carcass from cracking once it reaches a dry, heated or air-conditioned interior. We ship finish and care guidance for both the metal and the wood with every order so your after-sales team gives consistent advice, and we can supply touch-up finish, spare hinges and levelling feet for the uneven floors common in older buildings and heritage hotels.
Iron and wood sideboard sourcing, answered.
What is an iron and wood sideboard?
It is a long, low storage cabinet that pairs a solid-wood carcass, top and doors with a hand-forged iron frame or base. The timber carries the storage and the grain a buyer sees; the steel gives a slim, rigid structure that holds a wide, heavy cabinet dead level without bulky wooden legs. Jodhpur is known for both ironwork and solid-wood joinery, so we build the metal frame and the wood cabinet under one roof — which keeps proportions, finish and fit consistent across a full production run.
Which woods do you use for iron and wood sideboards?
Solid sheesham (Indian rosewood), mango and acacia are the volume choices, each with distinct grain and tone; reclaimed and old wood give a weathered, one-of-a-kind cabinet for industrial and rustic ranges; teak and rosewood suit premium lines. The carcass, top and door fronts are solid wood — not veneer on panel — and we cut them to your finish and hardware so the same iron frame can carry several looks across your catalogue.
What are standard iron and wood sideboard sizes, and can you build to our drawings?
Common widths run 120, 140, 160 and 180 cm, around 40–45 cm deep and 75–85 cm high, with 2–4 doors or a door-and-drawer mix. These are starting points, not limits — as an OEM manufacturer we build to your drawings, dimensions, door configuration, metal finish and hardware for private-label, retail and contract ranges.
How do you stop the metal rusting and the wood splitting in transit?
The iron frame is shot-blasted to clean steel and powder-coated or baked-lacquered to seal it against moisture, with heavier coat builds for coastal and humid markets. The timber is kiln-dried to a controlled moisture content before it is cut, which prevents cracking and warping after the piece lands in a dry centrally-heated or air-conditioned room. Both ship in ISPM-15 heat-treated export packing with corner protection.
Can iron and wood sideboards ship flat-pack or knockdown?
Yes. Welded one-piece frames ship assembled with the cabinet boxed; bolt-together frames and removable-leg builds ship knockdown (flat-pack / RTA) to cut freight and transit breakage — the format large importers and online sellers usually prefer. Flat-pack also maximises container density, lowering your landed cost per unit.
Are your iron and wood sideboards compliant for import into the US and EU?
Yes. We document FSC chain-of-custody, Vriksh timber-legality and CITES-compliant sheesham handling on the wood, are EUDR-ready with geolocation and deforestation-free due diligence, and support US Lacey Act declarations, UK Timber Regulation, CARB / TSCA formaldehyde-compliant finishes and ISPM-15 export packing, with SEDEX / SMETA, ISO and SGS assurance.
Approve the wood and the metal, then ship from one container up.
Approve the wood tone, door layout and powder-coat finish on a physical sample, then scale from a trial order to repeat container volumes on a 30–45 day lead time — QC-governed and documented for your market.
