Mid-century modern floating shelves, manufactured for export.
Warm walnut-toned solid wood, clean tapered profiles and a concealed bracket that lets the board float — the 1950s–60s design language your retail, e-commerce and hospitality buyers keep asking for, built on real Jodhpur craft and import-ready paperwork.
The mid-century look, defined by detail
Mid-century modern is not a wood or a colour — it is a set of design choices: warm, open-grained timber; honest, functional form; clean rectilinear or gently tapered lines; softly eased edges; and the least hardware possible. A mid-century floating shelf reads as a single, quiet plane on the wall, its bracket hidden so the board appears to hover. It is the detailing buyers recognise instantly from West Coast and Scandinavian interiors — and the range that sells off a retail shelf and photographs beautifully for e-commerce.
We build that look into the board itself: a true solid-wood plank (never veneered panel), a slim 25–35 mm profile with an eased or micro-chamfered edge, and a low-sheen finish that lets the grain show. The result is period-correct, durable, and consistent across a full container run.
Warm walnut tones, three ways
Teak is the signature mid-century timber. Acacia and oiled sheesham deliver the same walnut character with a cost advantage — ideal when you need the look at wholesale margins. Every piece is finished in a CARB / TSCA-compliant low-formaldehyde coating.

Teak
The classic mid-century wood — honey-to-caramel tone, open grain and natural oils that age gracefully.
Teak as a shelf material
Acacia
Dense, hard-wearing and richly figured — a warm walnut-toned alternative at an attractive cost.
Acacia as a shelf material
Sheesham, walnut-stained
Indian rosewood oiled or walnut-stained to a deep mid-century tone — Jodhpur's core, CITES-handled timber.
Sheesham as a shelf materialFinishes. Natural penetrating oil for the most authentic open-grain feel; low-sheen matte lacquer for scuff resistance on retail and hospitality floors; or a custom walnut / teak stain matched to your Pantone, RAL or physical sample. We avoid high-gloss — it reads modern-contemporary, not mid-century. Edges. Eased square, micro-chamfer or a subtle bull-nose. Brackets. Concealed steel rod or blind cleat as standard; optional slim tapered under-bracket or slender exposed metal support when a visible structural detail is wanted.

Built to last on the wall
Solid wood moves with humidity; our mid-century boards are kiln-dried to export moisture levels so they stay flat in US and EU interiors. Oil-finished shelves are refreshed with a wipe of furniture oil once or twice a year; matte-lacquered shelves need only a dry or barely-damp cloth. Keep out of prolonged direct sun to preserve the walnut tone, and mount into studs or with the supplied anchors to the load rating stated for your market.
We can print care and fitting guidance in your language and branding, and match load ratings and hardware to your destination market's norms.
Craft plus the paperwork
Most Jodhpur workshops can cut a shelf. Few can pair genuine mid-century craft with the compliance and scale a serious importer needs: FSC chain-of-custody, Vriksh timber-legality and EUDR-ready due diligence as standard, with Lacey, UKTR, CARB / TSCA and ISPM-15 all covered. Our own factory plus a vetted Jodhpur network means we fulfil from a first trial order to large, repeat container volumes on a 30–45 day lead, with QC on every piece. Factory visits welcome on prior intimation.
Mid-century floating shelves — answered
What makes a floating shelf mid-century modern?
It is defined by the detailing, not a logo. A mid-century modern floating shelf uses a warm, walnut-toned solid wood (teak, acacia or stained sheesham), clean rectilinear or gently tapered board profiles, softly eased edges, and a slim, minimal silhouette on a concealed bracket so the wood appears to float. The finish is an open-grain oil or low-sheen matte that reads organic rather than glossy — the restrained, functional look of 1950s–60s design.
Which woods and finishes suit the mid-century look best?
Teak is the signature mid-century timber for its honey-to-caramel tone and open grain; acacia and oiled sheesham (Indian rosewood) give the same warm walnut character at a cost advantage. We finish them in natural oil, low-sheen matte lacquer, or a custom walnut or teak stain matched to your Pantone or sample — all with CARB / TSCA-compliant low-formaldehyde coatings.
Do mid-century floating shelves come with concealed brackets?
Yes. The floating effect is standard — a steel rod or blind cleat set into the back of the board so no fixings are visible, keeping the clean mid-century line. We can also supply slim tapered under-brackets or an exposed slender metal support if you want a visible structural detail. Wall plugs, hardware and fitting instructions are packed in, and the fixings kit can be private-labelled.
What is the minimum order for wholesale mid-century floating shelves?
A trial or sample order can ship LCL (part-container). For best wholesale pricing thereafter, one 20ft full container load (FCL) is our standard minimum, and shelves consolidate well into mixed-category containers alongside other furniture and décor. Flat-pack and knock-down options raise container density and cut freight per unit.
Can you make them to our own designs, dimensions and brand?
Yes. We work as both ODM (our ready catalogue designs) and OEM — manufacturing to your drawings, lengths, depths, edge profile, finish and brand, including custom CNC detailing, your logo on the product or packaging, and retail-ready, branded or Amazon-FBA-ready boxes with barcodes.
Are the shelves compliant for import into the US and EU?
Yes. We document FSC chain-of-custody, Vriksh timber-legality and EUDR-ready geolocation with deforestation-free due diligence, and we support US Lacey Act declarations, UK Timber Regulation, CARB / TSCA finishes and ISPM-15 heat-treated export packing — so your shipment clears customs cleanly.
