Live edge benches — natural-edge slab seats, no two alike.

A live edge bench keeps the tree's own contour along the seat — an organic, sculptural line that factory-straight furniture can't fake. We cut slab seats from solid mango, acacia, sheesham and teak, pair them with wood or metal legs, and ship them from a trial order up to repeat container volumes, documented for your market.

Live edge bench with a natural-edge solid-wood slab seat on slim black metal legs, handcrafted in Jodhpur, India
Why live edge for a bench

One slab, one tree, one bench — genuinely unique.

A live edge bench is as close as furniture gets to the tree it came from. Instead of ripping the long sides of the seat straight, we keep the natural outer contour of the log — the organic, slightly wavy edge — then clean off the bark and smooth it so the real shape of the tree reads along the whole seat. Because each slab carries its own grain, figure, knots and edge line, no two benches are ever identical; buyers are selling individuality, not a repeated SKU. It is a look that works hard across styles: raw and warm in a rustic or farmhouse room, clean and architectural on slim black steel legs in a modern or industrial space. We cut slabs from solid mango, acacia, sheesham and teak, leave natural voids raw or fill them with clear or tinted resin, and pair the organic top with whatever leg sharpens the contrast. It is a slab-furniture craft that plays directly to our solid-wood strength in Jodhpur.

Care & durability

A solid slab, built and finished to last.

A live-edge seat is a thick solid slab, so it is inherently robust — the care is about keeping the wood stable and the finish right. We kiln-dry every slab to a stable moisture level before machining, which controls the natural movement and checking that unseasoned slabs suffer, and we seal end grain and natural voids so the piece settles cleanly into heated or air-conditioned interiors. Oiled slabs show the grain beautifully and can be refreshed with a wipe of furniture oil once or twice a year; lacquered slabs wipe clean with a soft, slightly damp cloth and suit café and contract use. Use coasters and avoid standing heat or water directly on the seat. Resin-filled voids are inert and simply wipe clean. Metal legs are powder-coated against scuffs and can be re-levelled with adjustable feet. Full care and finish guidance ships with every order.

Questions buyers ask

Live edge bench sourcing, answered.

What is a live edge bench?

A live edge bench keeps the natural, uncut profile of the tree along the long sides of the seat — the organic wavy edge, cleaned of bark and smoothed, rather than ripped straight. The seat is a single solid-wood slab, so every bench carries the real contour, grain and knots of the log it came from. No two are identical, which is exactly the appeal.

What woods do you use for live edge benches?

We cut live-edge slab seats from solid mango, acacia, sheesham and teak. Mango and acacia give lively, varied grain at a value price; sheesham brings rich dark figure; teak suits covered outdoor use. Thickness is typically 1.5–2.5 in (38–64 mm). Natural voids and cracks can be left raw or filled with clear or tinted resin to your preference.

What legs can a live edge bench have?

The organic slab pairs beautifully with contrast legs: slim black powder-coated steel, hairpin legs, a sculptural wood trestle, or U-shaped metal. Metal legs ship flat and bolt on, which cuts freight and breakage. Tell us the look and we match leg style, height and colour to the slab.

Can live edge benches go outdoors?

For covered outdoor use such as a porch, a teak or acacia live-edge slab with a weatherproof metal leg works well. Fully exposed slabs of mango or sheesham are not advised, as sun and rain will check and grey the wood. For open-air settings we recommend a teak slab and a marine-grade or powder-coated frame.

What is your minimum order for live edge benches?

Because slabs are natural, a trial or sample order can ship LCL (part-container). For best wholesale pricing thereafter, one 20ft full container load is our standard minimum, and we consolidate live-edge benches with live-edge tables, consoles and other categories into a single mixed container.

Can you make live edge benches to our own design and brand?

Yes. We work as ODM from our catalogue and as OEM to your drawings — slab wood, thickness, length, resin fill, edge treatment, leg style and finish, plus private-label and retail-ready packaging. Because each slab is unique, we can also photograph and reserve specific slabs for a buyer's order.
