Why reclaimed wood for a bed

A hero frame with a past you cannot manufacture.

Distressing imitates age; reclaimed wood is age. Our salvaged stock comes from dismantled buildings, old doors and beams, railway sleepers and retired furniture — predominantly old teak and sheesham, dense hardwoods that have already proven themselves over decades. That history leaves marks a factory cannot reproduce: nail and bolt holes, saw kerfs, weathered colour shifts and a patina that reads as genuinely lived-in. Because the timber has spent years in service, it is also naturally seasoned and dimensionally calm, which makes for a stable frame once re-milled. On top of character, reclaimed wood carries a sustainability credential buyers increasingly ask for — it diverts timber from waste, needs no fresh felling and tells a clean carbon-saving story. For boutique retail and design-led hospitality, a reclaimed bed is the hero piece that anchors a whole room.

Finishes

Clear matt sealers that let the patina speak, light natural oils, or lime-wash and weathered tones — all in CARB / TSCA Title VI formaldehyde-compliant formulations. Original surface marks are preserved by design; the finish protects without hiding age.

Packing & shipping

Assembled or knockdown (flat-pack / RTA) with bolt-through fittings — useful for heavy salvaged hardwood. Carton, retail-ready, Amazon-FBA-ready or branded packaging; ISPM-15 heat-treated export packing, FOB or CIF from Mundra / Nhava Sheva.

Import-ready compliance

A sustainability story your compliance team can verify.

Reclaimed wood is one of the strongest sustainability narratives in furniture — and we document the legality behind it rather than just claiming it. Every reclaimed bed ships with FSC chain-of-custody handling on request, Vriksh timber-legality verification, and EUDR-ready due-diligence data, with CITES-compliant handling where salvaged sheesham (Dalbergia sissoo) is involved. We provide US Lacey Act declaration support, UK Timber Regulation coverage, and CARB / TSCA Title VI formaldehyde-compliant finishes, with social and quality assurance under SEDEX / SMETA, ISO and SGS inspection, and ISPM-15 heat-treated export packing. Certificate references go directly to serious buyers — never published. Your eco story holds up under audit.

Care & durability

Old timber, re-engineered to sleep like new.

Salvaged hardwood arrives naturally seasoned, but we do not rely on that alone — every board is re-kiln-dried and treated against any residual pests before it is milled, so the finished frame is stable and sound. New mortise-and-tenon or bolt-through joinery, reinforced centre rails and support legs on queen and king builds mean the bed carries full sleeper loads silently, even though its surfaces carry decades of history. In service, reclaimed beds need only a wipe with a soft, slightly damp cloth and a dry buff; the preserved patina means minor new marks simply blend into the character rather than standing out. Avoid standing water and harsh solvents, and keep the frame out of prolonged direct sun. Full care and finish guidance ships with every order so your retail and hospitality customers get consistent advice.

Questions buyers ask

Reclaimed wood bed sourcing, answered.

What wood is used in your reclaimed beds?

Our reclaimed stock is predominantly old teak and sheesham (Indian rosewood) salvaged from dismantled buildings, doors, beams, railway sleepers and old furniture across the region. These are dense, mature hardwoods that have already spent decades in service, so the timber is naturally seasoned, stable and full of character — nail holes, bolt marks, saw kerfs and weathered patina that cannot be faked with distressing.

Is a reclaimed wood bed structurally sound?

Yes. We select sound, dense salvaged timber, kiln-dry and treat it, then mill and re-machine it with new mortise-and-tenon or bolt-through joinery, so the finished bed meets the same strength standard as our new-wood frames. Original surface marks are retained for character, but any unsound or compromised sections are cut out — the frame you receive is engineered to carry full sleeper loads.

Why are reclaimed wood beds valued by buyers?

Two reasons: story and substance. Each bed is genuinely one of a kind, with authentic age that distressing cannot replicate, which makes it a strong hero piece for boutique retail and hospitality. And because the timber is salvaged rather than freshly felled, it carries a powerful sustainability and carbon-saving narrative that resonates with eco-conscious markets — a real point of difference on a crowded shelf.

Will every reclaimed bed look the same?

No — and that is the point. Because the raw material is salvaged, colour, grain, patina and marks vary from piece to piece, so no two beds are identical. We can work to an agreed character range so a batch reads as a coherent collection, but buyers should expect and value natural variation rather than uniform matching.

What is your minimum order for reclaimed wood beds?

A trial or sample bed can ship LCL (part-container). For best wholesale pricing thereafter, one 20ft full container load is our standard minimum, and we consolidate reclaimed beds with matching nightstands, chests, benches and other reclaimed pieces into a single mixed container.

Can reclaimed wood beds ship flat-packed?

Yes. We build knockdown (flat-pack / RTA) reclaimed frames with bolt-through rail fittings to cut freight volume and transit breakage — useful given the weight of dense salvaged hardwood — with retail-ready or branded packaging. Assembled builds are available where your channel prefers them.
