Wrought iron bar stools — forged-iron frames with solid-wood seats, built for busy counters.

The wood-and-iron stool is the piece buyers associate with Jodhpur: a hand-forged low-carbon iron frame under a mango, acacia, sheesham or reclaimed-wood seat. We manufacture counter, bar and spectator heights, document every piece for import, and ship from a single trial order up to repeat container volumes.

Why wrought iron for a bar stool

The frame that holds steady on a floor that never stops.

A bar stool takes more abuse than almost any seat in a room — constant climbing on and off, legs dragged across the floor, drinks spilt, tops wiped down a dozen times a shift. A forged-iron frame answers that punishment. Wrought iron is low-carbon iron worked hot — hammered, drawn, bent and welded by hand — so it is tough and malleable rather than brittle: it flexes and resists impact rather than cracking like cast iron, and it carries the density and slight irregularity of real forging instead of the hollow lightness of tube steel. That weight is a feature on a stool, giving it the planted stability a tall seat needs. Topped with a genuine solid-wood seat, it delivers the industrial, farmhouse and loft look your retail and hospitality customers recognise, with the warmth of real timber and the re-weldable, re-coatable longevity of forged metal.

Properties at a glance

How a forged-iron stool performs where lighter frames fail.

AttributeWrought iron bar stool characteristic
FrameLow-carbon iron, hot-worked and hand-forged; near-zero porosity in the forged section
Strength & behaviourHigh tensile strength; malleable and tough — bends and resists impact rather than cracking like cast iron
StabilityDense and heavy, so a tall stool stays planted under daily climbing on and off; footrests welded for load
SeatSolid mango, acacia, sheesham or reclaimed wood; cane, leather or upholstered options on the same frame
CorrosionRusts if left bare and wet; controlled with phosphate / zinc-rich primer plus powder coat, lacquer or wax
AppearanceHand-forged texture, hammer marks and scrollwork; character comes from the forging and finish, not grain
DurabilityCommercial-grade; frames outlast upholstery and fashion cycles — ideal for contract and hospitality use
RepairabilityRe-weldable and re-coatable; chips touch up on site, unlike moulded or veneered alternatives
SustainabilityIron is fully recyclable; paired with FSC and reclaimed timber for a lower-footprint, deforestation-free build

Forging texture, seat grain and exact finish vary piece to piece, which is why we recommend approving a physical stool before production. Request a wrought iron bar stool sample and we will send frame, seat-wood and finish references for your range, or read the full wrought iron material guide for how we forge and finish the metal.

Heights & sizing

Counter, bar and spectator — matched to your top.

Match stool seat height to the surface it serves: allow roughly 10–12 in (25–30 cm) between the seat and the underside of the top for comfortable legroom. Every dimension below is a standard starting point — we forge wrought iron stools to your exact specification for contract projects.

Packing & shipping

Engineered knockdown (flat-pack / RTA) with bolt-together frames and removable seats to cut freight and breakage, with carton, retail-ready, Amazon-FBA-ready or branded packaging. ISPM-15 heat-treated export packing, shipped FOB or CIF from Mundra / Nhava Sheva.

Import-ready compliance

Stools that clear customs as cleanly as they sit.

The iron frame carries no timber-legality burden, but the wood seat does — and that is where most buyers get caught at the port. Every wrought iron bar stool ships with the documentation serious importers need behind the timber: FSC chain-of-custody on request, Vriksh timber-legality verification, and EUDR-ready geolocation and deforestation-free due diligence, with CITES-compliant handling where sheesham is used. We provide US Lacey Act declaration support, UK Timber Regulation coverage, and CARB / TSCA formaldehyde-compliant seat finishes. Metal fabrication is inspected by SGS with in-house QC on every piece, documented in EN 10204 MTC-style records where applicable, and packed to ISPM-15 heat-treated standards.

Care & durability

Finished to your brief, built to take years of service.

Finished correctly, a wrought iron frame needs little maintenance and lasts through commercial service. Dust with a dry or barely-damp cloth and avoid abrasive pads that scratch the coat; wipe spills promptly and keep stools dry, especially where the frame meets the floor; and inspect chips and scratches so you can touch up bare spots before rust can start. For covered-outdoor bars, move stools under cover in prolonged wet or freezing weather. The solid-wood seat is cared for on its own schedule — clean with a soft cloth and re-oil or re-wax oiled seats once or twice a year to feed the grain and keep the colour deep. Frames are powder-coated against scuffing and footrests can be specified with protective finishes for high-wear venues. We supply matching touch-up finish and written care and finish specifications with every order, so your team and your retail and hospitality customers get consistent advice.

Questions buyers ask

Wrought iron bar stool sourcing, answered.

What are wrought iron bar stools made of?

Our wrought iron bar stools pair a hand-forged, low-carbon iron frame with a genuine solid-wood seat — mango, acacia, sheesham or reclaimed timber. The forged base gives the stool its weight, rigidity and industrial character, while the wood seat adds warmth and the repair-ability buyers expect. We also offer upholstered, cane or leather seats on the same iron frames to suit different ranges.

What seat heights do your wrought iron bar stools come in?

We build three standard heights: counter stools at roughly 24–26 in (61–66 cm) for 35–37 in counters, bar stools at roughly 29–31 in (74–79 cm) for 40–42 in bar tops, and spectator or extra-tall stools at 33–36 in (84–91 cm) for raised bars. Allow 10–12 in of legroom between seat and top, and we also forge to your exact seat height for contract projects.

Are wrought iron bar stools good for commercial and outdoor use?

Yes. Forged iron is dense and rigid, so the stools stay stable under constant climbing on and off in cafés, restaurant bars and hotel lounges. For covered patios and verandas we specify a zinc-rich primer under a UV-stable powder coat to resist rust, and pair the frame with a weather-tolerant wood or stone seat. For fully exposed coastal sites we advise on finish and pairing so pieces last.

How do you stop wrought iron bar stools from rusting?

Rust control starts at the factory: bare steel is cleaned, degreased and given a phosphate or zinc-rich primer, then sealed with either a baked powder coat or a hand-applied wax or lacquer for the raw-industrial look. In service, keep stools dry, wipe spills promptly and touch up any chips. We supply matching touch-up finish and full finish specifications with every order.

What is your minimum order for wrought iron bar stools?

A trial or sample order can ship LCL (part-container) so you can approve the forging, seat wood and finish before committing. For best wholesale pricing thereafter, one 20ft full container load is our standard minimum, and we consolidate wrought iron bar stools with tables, metalware and décor into a single mixed container.

Can you make wrought iron bar stools to our own design and brand?

Yes. We work as ODM (our catalogue designs) and OEM (your drawings, dimensions, finishes and private-label or retail-ready packaging), including custom CNC and metal fabrication, swivel, backless and low-back builds, your choice of seat wood and powder-coat colour, and footrests specified for high-wear venues.
