Jute furniture — natural fibre, woven for buyers who sell sustainability.
A soft, golden, fully renewable bast fibre, hand-woven into rope-cord seats, braided poufs and textile upholstery over our solid-wood and wrought-iron frames — the plant-based, biodegradable alternative your retail and hospitality customers are asking for.
A fast-growing plant fibre, India has spun for generations.
Jute is a bast fibre harvested from the stem of the Corchorus plant, grown across the Indian subcontinent. It is rain-fed, matures in months rather than decades, and returns to the soil at end of life — one of the most genuinely renewable materials a furniture maker can work with. Its long, strong strands take a natural golden-to-honey colour and a soft, tactile hand, which is why jute has been used for rope, webbing and seating cord long before "sustainable" became a selling point. We bring that same fibre into contemporary furniture, woven over frames we build and document ourselves.

Where jute wins, and where to spec something else.
Why buyers choose jute
- Sustainability story that stands up. Rapidly renewable, rain-fed and biodegradable — a real plant-based alternative to synthetic upholstery and plastic cord.
- Distinctive natural look. The golden weave and soft hand give the coastal, Scandi-natural and boho aesthetics that sell at retail.
- Strong for a natural fibre. High tensile strength makes it well suited to woven seats, webbing and cord.
- Light and freight-friendly. Low weight and knockdown frame options keep container costs and breakage down.
When to choose an alternative
- Full outdoor or wet areas. Jute absorbs moisture; for poolside or exposed terraces we recommend a weatherproof cord or a different natural fibre.
- Heavy-abrasion contract floors. For high-traffic commercial seating, pair jute with a sturdier blend or move to solid-wood and iron seats.
- A darker, denser surface. If the brief calls for a polished timber top or stone, see our solid-wood and marble materials instead.
Tell us the setting and the look, and we will spec the fibre, weave and frame that actually survives it — honest material advice is part of the service.
A natural fibre, documented like everything we ship.
Jute is renewable and biodegradable by nature, but a credible claim still needs paperwork. Where a jute piece sits on a solid-wood frame, we document that timber to FSC chain-of-custody and Vriksh timber-legality, with EUDR-ready, deforestation-free due diligence and US Lacey Act support. Export packing is ISPM-15 heat-treated, and our factories are SEDEX / SMETA audited with ISO quality management and SGS inspection available.

Jute furniture FAQs.
What is jute furniture?
Jute furniture uses jute — a soft, golden bast fibre spun from the Corchorus plant — as the seat, surface or covering of a piece built on a solid-wood or wrought-iron frame. It appears as hand-woven rope-cord chair and stool seats, braided pouf and ottoman covers, webbing, and jute-textile upholstery. We make it as finished export furniture, not as loose fibre or yarn.
Is jute furniture durable enough for commercial use?
Jute is a strong, hard-wearing natural fibre with good tensile strength, which is why it has long been used for rope, webbing and seating cord. For indoor residential, café and boutique-hospitality settings it holds up well. It is best kept dry and out of heavy outdoor exposure, so for poolside or fully outdoor contract use we recommend pairing it with, or substituting, a weatherproof cord — tell us the setting and we will spec the right fibre and frame.
Is jute a sustainable, eco-friendly material?
Yes. Jute is one of the most renewable natural fibres available — it is fast-growing, rain-fed, biodegradable and compostable at end of life, and it is a genuine plant-based alternative to synthetic upholstery. When we build jute furniture on solid-wood frames we document those frames to FSC chain-of-custody and Vriksh timber-legality, so the whole piece supports a credible sustainability story for your retail or hospitality brand.
How do you care for jute furniture?
Keep jute dry and vacuum or brush it to lift dust from the weave. Blot spills immediately rather than soaking, and spot-clean with a barely damp cloth, then let it air-dry fully. Avoid machine washing, saturation and prolonged direct sunlight, which can dry and fade the fibre over time. Each shipment ships with a care note you can pass to your customers.
Can I order jute furniture wholesale and in custom designs?
Yes. We are an export-only manufacturer working to both our own catalogue (ODM) and your drawings and specifications (OEM, private label). We produce jute seating, poufs and décor in custom weaves, sizes, cord colours and frame woods, with retail-ready or Amazon-FBA packaging. A trial order can ship LCL; one 20ft container is the standard minimum thereafter for best pricing.
What is the lead time and minimum order for jute furniture?
Typical production lead time is 30–45 days, with urgent orders accepted at a premium. A sample or trial order can ship LCL (part-container); for best wholesale pricing we ask for one 20ft full container load thereafter, and jute pieces consolidate easily with wood furniture and décor into a single mixed container shipped FOB or CIF from Mundra or Nhava Sheva.
